barnabywalters thinking in terms of 'how to explain it to people who couldn't care less about post types' and 'what types go in what feeds (activitystream vs serious blog)', I think it makes most sense to use status as an IM status (or not at all in my case), have 'note' as a quickly decaying informal tweet type content, then use article/blog post for anything which is actually meaningful and has useful content
