j12tThree of us (Kaliya Young aka identitywoman, Jennifer Holmes and myself) are organizing a new online unconference end of March called FediForum. It focuses on post-Twitter social media and the fediverse. FYI to you IndieWeb folks because the topic is so close. https://fediforum.org/
j12t(Not currently mentioning IndieWeb in the description because traditionally the IndieWeb has had its own events. Not trying to stop on anybody's toes ... but it would be great to have IndieWeb people and topics, too.)
[tantek]j12t, curious if you particpiated in DecentSocial which was a similar "online unconference" on pretty much the same topic(s) and what you thought of it? and if not, perhaps look into that to see how it went and what could be learned from that experience?
j12tYes, I was at DecentSocial, which was a nice event. Our format is going to be a bit different, e.g. we're going to have a software demo track (e.g. Ryan said he would demo Bridgy Fed) and we are attempting to host specific conversations that we've heard need to happen to move the fediverse forward.
[tantek]Also you would not be stepping on anyone's toes IMO at least to mention it welcome IndieWeb topics. There's a lot of crossover across different communities and I think it's better to err on the side of inclusion than try to have any kind of firm boundaries
aaronpki agree! it'd only be a problem if the event were *called* IndieWebCamp or IndieWeb-whatever, then it would be weird to not coordinate more closely here
[tantek]yeah that's a reasonable distinction, if you want to call something an IndieWebCamp, it would be weird to not coordinate here, but then again, someone could just take the instructions from the wiki, never show up here, and run with it to do their own, maybe in a different country etc
[aciccarello]Also, side note... When did Mastodon stop providing the source URL in the web UI? I can't seem to get it without opening the link in a non-logged-in tab.

starrwulfe[aciccarello] I click on the posted time links and that jumps me over to the original originating post from each thread participant's instance. Is that not the case with you anymore?
starrwulfe Some newer versions and modified masto instances do have fancy share links; notably the glitch flavor of v4.02 that allows for more formatting and presentation. Preloma/Accoma/Friendica/et al all do it differently as well of course
