aaronpk: [tantek] left you a message 3 weeks, 3 days ago: what is your preferred term/phrase for your home page feature of the collaboratively clickable pixel grid thingy? "grid" from https://aaronparecki.com/grid seems a bit generic and home page pixel art seems a bit long and doesn't capture the collaborative/interactive aspect of it. sknebel has one now too that updates an eInk display! https://www.svenknebel.de/posts/2023/12/2/

aaronpk: rubenwardy left you a message 3 weeks, 3 days ago: you should make the images on your site loading=lazy as it's blocking the page load (inc the pixel grid script). Also, consider making smaller thumbnails (the homepage is 11MB for me)

aaronpk: rubenwardy left you a message 3 weeks, 3 days ago: took 35s to load
#
aaronpk
hmm the pixel grid isn't images
#
aaronpk
i do have a lot of photos on my home page tho
#
rubenwardy
the images block the pixel grid script from loading
#
aaronpk
well IIRC lazy loading images got better browser support a while back so that should be easy

aaronpk, since I don't currently have a way to post bookmark posts, it will take me some more work to be able to submit other people's posts/articles to IndieNews 😔
#
aaronpk
it works with regular posts if you can tag the post with indienews

inspired by RFC 9518, I am thinking of including "No large language models were used in the production of this site." to the footer on my home page. has anyone else done anything similar (I know capjamesg has the "not-by-ai" button/badge) ?

[tantek]: I have random footer text on each page, but one of them says “proudly generative AI free”
#
[tantek]
nice! are you able to permalink to one of them? or are they randomly generated upon load rather than once per page?
