I do think it’s still going to be a little jarring for many people to see something they’ve written on (e.g.) a Masto instance show up looking different somewhere else, which is probably what’s driving some of the resistance. The fact that they’ve created a false equivalency (or non-equivalency) isn’t going to lessen that.
