# [KevinMarks] @morganwebdev - ironically, the Google project to document the web, led by Mark Pilgrim, was called 'doctype' - which made it really hard to search for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmUiKaHWjLI - you can see bits of it in wayback https://web.archive.org/web/20081207063856/http://code.google.com/p/doctype/wiki/Welcome?tm=6http://code.google.com/doctype/
# capjamesg A reminder that I have some domains and projects that I'd like to see go to a new home: https://gist.github.com/capjamesg/eba29d51e0197f49523b1fc02ada6f2e. If there is a GitHub repository next to the domain name, it means that there is code you could optionally use with the site.

# [Joe_Crawford] I successfully took in https://blogofthe.day over the weekend from James which was fun. Fun to learn a bit about netlify and 11ty. capjamesg++

# [byJP] ↩️ Yeah, I can see why it’s not prioritised, it’s a shame though. I feel like iOS doesn’t have much going for it in the IndieWeb world — I have Sparkles as a web-bookmark/app on my homescreen, but you can’t access it from the share sheet, and sharing photos isn’t easy with any apps I can find.
# [byJP] I’m looking forward to Indigenous — or perhaps I’ll be able to write some plugins for IndieKit! (I’ve been meaning to find time to talk to you about ways to simplify local testing!)

# [Paul_Robert_Ll] ↩️ I’m all ears on how to improve local testing; feel free to start a discussion on the repo: https://github.com/getindiekit/indiekit/discussions
# [byJP] ↩️ Entirely fair! Thankfully they don’t use lots of power, but it’s still _some_ power. Perhaps you could build a solar-powered one outside like https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/about/the-solar-website/! Though working with big batteries and the like probably won’t feel _much_ safer 😅
# [byJP] ↩️ Will do!

# [Joe_Crawford] capjamesg++ I just merged a PR for blogofthe.day. And to think I hesitated to make the repository public lest I make some kind of big dumb error -- that's no reason not to do it because making it public is exactly right in this case. We'll see what big dumb errors I'll make soon enough. The admintax I think will be manageable. But I was doing almost the same thing as this 20 years ago with my "San Diego Bloggers" site.
# [Joe_Crawford] https://artlung.com/blog/tag/sandiegobloggers.com/ includes monthly posts of who I was adding.
# [Joe_Crawford] hah! you bet it does. yikes. thanks for the bug report.
# [Joe_Crawford] fixed. thanks capjamesg++ more of that painful last 5% where I specified colors without the css custom attributes.

# [keithjgrant] Hey folks, I've decided I'm going to let my registration of http://omnibear.com lapse. It's become obvious I'm never going to get around to rebuilding the extension with the new webextensions api. My registration is good til February, so it'll be around for a little while, but if anybody else has interest in picking up that project, I'm happy to work out a domain transfer before it's gobbled up by a domain squatter.

# [aciccarello] That's too bad. I've been wanting to see Omnibear revived.
# [aciccarello] I might consider taking it on 🤔
# [aciccarello] I'm a JS dev but I haven't done much with extensions
# [keithjgrant] I wanted to see it revived too 😢 But i've decided to just be honest with myself
# [aciccarello] I feel that
# [aciccarello] Let me see if I can find some time to take a look at the codebase again
# [keithjgrant] yeah the new API changed so much, I'm basically back to square one learning how it works
# [keithjgrant] it hasn't helped that my own micropub server is also not working anymore, so it's really two projects in one for me
# [keithjgrant] [aciccarello] sounds good. let me know
# [keithjgrant] also check the `retooling` branch. I made a start at one point updating things. I tried to refactor out MobX... can't recall if I totally finished that effort though
# [aciccarello] Will do. I really like the idea of replying in context and having an indication in the browser of webmention support.
# [aciccarello] Even if the new API requires a significant overhaul, I'd love to keep the branding and website so there's some continuity.

# [keithjgrant] FWIW my best guess is anyone that still has the extension limping along on their machine should be able to keep using it. It checks for navigation to http://omnibear.com as part of the login process, but the page itself doesn't actually do anything. I _think_ that might keep working even if the page happens to 404

# [aciccarello] If I can ramp up on the browser extension side of it I'd be open to taking over the domain.

# [KevinMarks] A common form on twitter was misdefining a word, and threading other misdefinitions
# [KevinMarks] The more recent form is quoting a templat phrase and providing your own example
# [KevinMarks] Indieweb adjacent thinking here https://laughingmeme.org//2024/05/12/what-we-mean-to-others.html
# [Joe_Crawford] sure, reposting an existing post with your own take/answer/survey reply/whatever. tumblr. facebook. instagram stories, very common idiom.
# [Joe_Crawford] First example I can think of is a "Tag yourself, I'm ..." and then post maybe an image of a D&D-style alignment chart.
# [Joe_Crawford] People can reply on their own, or share the post themselves independent of the post where they saw it first.
# [tantek] Here's an example of the precise format I mean: https://www.threads.net/@jasondoroughauthor/post/C7LRLpWMaYU/
