Speaking of Spanish, I have a URL design question for Spanish speakers.
#
[aciccarello]
I currently have all of my posts under a /posts section of my site. If I were to add a /es section for Spanish posts, should I use /es/publicaciones, /es/entradas, /es/posts or something else?
#
[aciccarello]
Might make a Spanish page for URL design if I figure this out.

[aciccarello] Disclaimer, I'm not a Spanish speaker, I'm a Portuguese speaker.

All 3 sound okay to me. I run a team of translators and our Spanish team uses 'publicaciones.' They tend to make a point of avoiding anglicisms as much as possible tho, so depending on your feelings on that, 'posts' is probably also common.

In Portuguese you'd find all of these and also 'postagem' and it's often a matter of taste. Standard translations will use translated words, but 'post' is very common in everyday conversation.
#
[aciccarello]
That's helpful to hear. I know a lot of sites just keep the same URLs but with the language prefix but I'd like to use actual Spanish.
#
[tantek]
at least for the wiki, we don't translate words in URLs so it is easier to find/cross-link between translations
#
[tantek]
I believe Wikipedia *does* change the terms per language though, in addition to having different subdomains for each language, but there the articles in different languages are expected to diverge
#

Yeah, I personally like it when I can find translations by editing the url. Probably not a big deal if you can easily navigate using the interface itself, tho!

I'm planning on including a language switcher section on the page. So any pages that do have translations would be directly linked.
#
[aciccarello]
There would be a lot of english pages that don't have Spanish translations.

Hi everybody - back into blogging after a few years away, at swduncan.com. Still working my way through all of the IndieWeb moving parts. I'm on wordpress now, but looking at either an SSG or ghost. Also looking for events in the USA, specifically within reach of Kentucky.

An east coast timezone one has been popping up a few times recently too. The Pacific and London timezone ones happen regularly.
