Loqi[preview] [Anthony Ciccarello] I added my first custom web component to my site to implement a screen wake lock on recipe pages. Nice to get a chance to play with new web APIs.
GuestZero, alfiee, KeitaroNL, jgee0372, [KevinMarks], rvalue-, ttybitnik, [qubyte], [Trevor_Morris], timmarinin, aelaraji1, ^Dan, user23 and sp1ff joined the channel; ^Dan left the channel
[artlung]For me, I would not make the decision to delete or create a website based on a poll of strangers or even friends. But a reminder that joy is a core indieweb motivating value.
Loqijoy is a good motivator and focus for making things for your own website, and is something the IndieWeb community encourages people to prioritize and pursue with their IndieWeb projects, and deprioritize (or automate) things that do not bring them joy https://indieweb.org/joy
hacknorris[artlung] site i have is useless for others. that i have the "fun" sometimes when doing something i don't do i don't think is enough to keep site onβ¦
[artlung]I would fully respect whatever decision you make. Yesterday during the Europe Zoom we talked about the value of "posting into the void"- that is, posting even if there are no responses or seems to be no readers. I have found that for learning, for self-reflection, for personal fulfillment my site has been useful even during the years when my site was broken and I had no readers.
[artlung]I think like [snarfed] I sense struggle from your words here, that may be a misread. I'd say that when my life has been difficult--(I've had _not one_ but _*two*_ divorces during the time I've maintained my website)--it was hard to be enthusiastic about keeping a website. But I'm glad I did.
