I just saw a recipe site has a mode to prevent the screensaver. I want to add that to my site now.

In the form of an optional toggle on recipe pages

[artlung]: yes, started, and probably now wrapping up. I left about 10 minutes ago or so. Good meeting today!

Good deal btrem! I peeked at the etherpad and saw it was active. Huzzah!

[preview] [Anthony Ciccarello] I added my first custom web component to my site to implement a screen wake lock on recipe pages. Nice to get a chance to play with new web APIs.

For me, I would not make the decision to delete or create a website based on a poll of strangers or even friends. But a reminder that joy is a core indieweb motivating value.
#
[artlung]
what is joy?
#
Loqi
joy is a good motivator and focus for making things for your own website, and is something the IndieWeb community encourages people to prioritize and pursue with their IndieWeb projects, and deprioritize (or automate) things that do not bring them joy https://indieweb.org/joy

[artlung] site i have is useless for others. that i have the "fun" sometimes when doing something i don't do i don't think is enough to keep site on…

I would fully respect whatever decision you make. Yesterday during the Europe Zoom we talked about the value of "posting into the void"- that is, posting even if there are no responses or seems to be no readers. I have found that for learning, for self-reflection, for personal fulfillment my site has been useful even during the years when my site was broken and I had no readers.
#
[artlung]
But 100% hacknorris support your journey and whatever decision you take!

That's okay! Many people like to tinker with their website for fun, for themselves.

I have made many HTML files just so I can play around and experiment.

[snarfed]
hacknorris, seems like you've been really struggling with this
#
[snarfed]
if you delete the web site, you'll keep a backup of the data, right? so you can recreate it if you change your mind later?
#
[snarfed]
knowing that may make it easier to delete
#
hacknorris
i don't think i'd change my mind
#
[artlung]
I think like [snarfed] I sense struggle from your words here, that may be a misread. I'd say that when my life has been difficult--(I've had _not one_ but _*two*_ divorces during the time I've maintained my website)--it was hard to be enthusiastic about keeping a website. But I'm glad I did.
#
hacknorris
i don't mean text content or showing what i did but site itself
#

i enjoy but i know noone else (it's not worth enjoying for anyone else)
