does anyone have seasonal (or monthly?) themes that change on their website? e.g. winter spring summer fall, or months based a theme like those listed in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_month-long_observances
#
gRegor
I think I did for a couple seasons, spring and summer at least, back in the 2000s. Had a background of light, alternating color lines, green in spring, yellow in summer. I don't remember if I did fall.

Figured I'd ask for real examples before creating a stub page

sounds ominous, and kind of is

[schmarty] It looks like you may need to move the webring.
#
[schmarty]1
oh wow. thanks capjamesg! i moved off of Glitch almost exactly 2 years ago. https://martymcgui.re/2023/05/20/rebooting--an-indieweb-webring/
#
[schmarty]1
i guess it's not super clear in that post. capjamesg: is there a particular bit of documentation you saw that suggests it's still on Glitch? 😅
#
capjamesg
[schmarty] My memory!
#
gRegor
I'm confused, what else does Glitch do? I thought that was its main thing
#
[schmarty]1
capjamesg: haha, cool. in that case, i'm considering your memory updated. 😂
#
[schmarty]1
gRegor: um, yeah, me too.

what is glitch
#
Loqi
Glitch (formerly Gomix, HyperDev before that) is a tool allowing you to quickly prototype web applications in a complete IDE with built in version control, sharing, custom domain support, and more https://indieweb.org/Glitch
#
capjamesg
[schmarty] Although maybe update that list to say that the webring moved off Glitch ^^
#
[schmarty]1
this is also not a lot of time for folks to move things! there are a _lot_ of projects on Glitch!!
#
[schmarty]1
ugh, this is going to be pretty devastating for lots of great little web projects 😭
#
capjamesg
I liked how playful Glitch is.

perryflynn
how they handle the end is great. even keeping redirects alive for a year.

indeed, that's a good nod and AFAIK the first to do so?
#
[tantek]
[schmarty] the "new codebase" section of your post https://martymcgui.re/2023/05/20/rebooting--an-indieweb-webring/ is probably worth a post of its own in the context of the Glitch shutdown. "So Glitch is shutting down app hosting. Here's my experience with migrating an app from Glitch to PHP, just over two years ago." etc.
