What is the protocol for a Movie Club switch-up?
#
[social]
I signed up and put in Sneakers, but I forgot I skim through the first 30 minutes when I watch it.

It looks like we don't have a page for "protocol for a Movie Club switch-up" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "protocol for a Movie Club switch-up is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#

I really would like to switch to Local Hero (1983), which seems like it is streaming on Tubi in the US. The movie has come up in Homebrew Website Club.
#
[social]
Would a switch work?
#
[social]
I had the introduction written for Sneakers and can swap it out and run with Local Hero if it sounds good
#
[social]
It looks like Local Hero is available to stream on Channel4 online in the UK as well.

what is indieweb movie club
#
Loqi
IndieWeb Movie Club is a monthly movie themed blog carnival inspired by the indieweb-carnival started in August 2024 https://indieweb.org/IndieWeb_Movie_Club

It's probably fine to switch, still a few days and if you didn't post an intro already, I say go for it
#
gRegor
I may watch both since Sneakers is a fave :)

I constantly get Sneakers and Scanners confused. I’m really bad with movie names, especially vague ones.

I have a few movies (and book authors) I regularly get confused.

I really enjoy Sneakers, but, I forgot about the first 30 minutes, then I really enjoy it.
#
[social]
I continually think Sneakers is a prelude to the Oceans series. But, Oceans had an Oceans it was based on from decades prior to Sneakers.
#
[social]
Okay, swapped out Sneakers for Local Hero
#
[social]
I hit the 30 minute mark and then it gets so good.
#
[social]
I’m sticking with the switch though.

I've been hit by the Everyone Is Aaron bug again and was very confused why Aaron would be referring to Morgan's website as "my."

So with the recent rallying to put pressure on Visa and Mastercard to change course, I've been seeing people once again sharing Googledocs links as a way to quickly whip up and distribute large blocks of text, as they tend to do. It's got me thinking about whether to put together some kind of guide on Non-Google Googledocs (or in other words, how to upload text files online in the most no-code minimal effort kind of way).

That's so weird. Right now in discord I see the default bot icon for everyone who isn't in discord
#
osteophage
Yeah that's the way it's supposed to be, and it's reverted back to that for me now, but previously...

I don't understand why it steals the icon for just you Aaron and never anyone else.

Hi, I was curious about any scam prevention measures if (and hopefully when) IndieAuth becomes more mainstream and sees wider adoption
#
Chailotl
The basic idea being someone who uses a free hosting service such as Carrd or Neocities could be tricked into adding a malicious rel="me" link to their webpage (for example, to be "rewarded" an in-game prize), which a scammer could use to hijack any accounts they've logged into via IndieAuth
#
[mattl]
what is carrd
#
Loqi
link in bio is a common expression on silos like Instagram which disallow linking from posts, directing viewers to the respective social media profile which usually allows only one link, which motivates linking to a link-in-bio service to show multiple links, usually at a short vanity path https://indieweb.org/carrd
