paperbritt I can't remember who it was but someone here recently noted that the problem of bots was already solved, if it wasn't for greed and I really feel this right now. I used to get *only* a few thousand bot visits, now it's at least 10x that on a quiet day.
#
paperbritt [nukecaprica_pe]: What kind of legit services? I can't think of many reasons bots need to visit my site but we live in the world of the cloud now so who knows.
#
[nukecaprica_pe] Uptime monitors (statuscake iirc)
#
[nukecaprica_pe] And some WordPress management platform
#
[nukecaprica_pe] On an individual level probably still fine to block. More of an issue for web hosts managing shared hosting I guess!
#
paperbritt That makes sense. Difficult to know what all of your users are running.

paperbritt Right now blocking Hostname - *compute.hwclouds-dns.com* is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Alibaba doesn't have a consistent hostname so not as easy.

[morganm] I just wanted to say again I learned a great deal from a last Pacific Homebrew Website Club, I learned about backup strategies which makes me feel a lot better after improving mine. Great community here, really a great place to learn.
