[tantek]I want an indieweb personal block list that works across all sites and where I can optionally annotate each entry with a permalink and a quote of the crappy thing this person said that made me want to block them
[tantek]like select a user (profile, commenter, whatever), and right-click "Block" or something with optional why fields URL+text prefilled with the page I'm on and the quote of what they said
[Kupietz][tantek] I use the webstickies extension. Everyone I block for any reason gets a little explanatory stickie right on their page. https://lawrencehook.com/ws/ As a bonus, I have a gist in my github account for exporting/importing them between computers.
[snarfed]oh, no, I guess I meant to ask about "across all sites." maybe I misinterpreted it. I was asking about where you'd hope your blocklist would take effect. your site? feed readers? other services? silos?
[Kupietz]In principle a browser extension is easy. I think I mentioned this recently, but back in the jQuery era I wrote a fairly universal content blocker userscript, based on keywords, but no reason you couldn't just put a username or URL in instead of a keyword. You could give it rules for specific sites, or for sites without specific rules, it'd look for the closes sensible ancestor block element it could invisibly cut out (p, div, etc.)
Loqi[preview] [kupietools] webcooler-userscript: A userscript from back in Ye Olde jQuery Days that flexibly hides hotbutton content from the web, to cool it down before it makes you want to do something intemperate.
[Kupietz]The specific reason I wrote it is to excise certain individuals from my world. I lived 2016-2020 never, ever hearing that Kellyanne Conway even existed.
