glitzeor4444 Woohoo I think I've got Eleventy working on my local copy now (sort of). Going to continue troubleshooting over the weekend and see if I can get Webmentions working over the next couple weeks
#
glitzeor4444 I saw in the Pacific chat that people were asking about SSGs with Webmention, and that is something I am gonna try and get going 🥰
#
glitzeor4444 And then after that, I will play with the CSS huzzah
#
turalyon I thought About web mention at first but I ended up setting a Jekyll plugin that fetches replies to my posts on Mastodon, if we are talking about blogs

JTR well, this is a chat I should have checked out long ago.
#
[capjamesg] Welcome!
#
JTR Thanks :)
#
JTR so there is a wiki somewhere, right? still trying to figure out the website
#
[capjamesg] What is the getting started?
#
Loqi 🌱 Get started on the indieweb by connecting with the IndieWeb community, getting a personal domain, a place for your content, and setting up your home page and other IndieWeb essentials https://indieweb.org/Getting_started
#
[capjamesg] ^^
#
JTR Oh, I was thinking a wiki that explains how to do certain things...? I am looking through trying to contribute (maybe) more then to learn at this point :D
#
[capjamesg] Oh to contribute to the wiki?
#
[capjamesg] What is contributing?
#
Loqi Here are a few ways to participate in and contribute to IndieWebCamp, before, during, after, and even if you can't make it: https://indieweb.org/contributing
#
[capjamesg] https://indieweb.org/wikifying is a good place to start to set up your personal user page on the wiki.
#
[capjamesg] The https://indieweb.org/wikifying#How_to_Contribute_to_the_IndieWeb_Wiki section explains how to contribute.

JTR "You'll need to verify that each service has a link back to your home page. For convenience the "edit profile" links for all the supported services are below. " I need to set this up but I don't see how to do that with mastodon? the link in wht wiki takes me to my github page
#
pinkmist hello, anyone know what the indieweb actually is?
#
[capjamesg] What is the indie web?
#
Loqi The IndieWeb is a community of independent and personal websites based on the principles of owning your domain and using it as your primary online identity, publishing on your own site first (optionally elsewhere), and owning your content https://indieweb.org/indie_web
#
[capjamesg] That page is a good start ^
pinkmist joined the channel
#
pinkmist Ohhhh, like I2P but clearnet?
#
pinkmist Kinda like just for fun, non-profit websites?
#
[capjamesg] Yes.
#
[capjamesg] JTR I’m not sure if the wiki supports login via Mastodon right now.
#
[capjamesg] You can still do rel=me with email, GitHub, Bluesky, and maybe one or two other services too.
#
pinkmist in that page it says my name and that might be public, any more privacy-focused ways? for example i2p had garlic routing for anonymity, this have anything similar?
#
JTR hmm ok maybe github then
#
pinkmist also domains for free as well
#
[capjamesg] Some people have websites under pseudonyms / pen names.
#
turalyon Uh oh, I was reading about indie auth and it's a very interesting concept, can I let other sign in to my site with indie auth for example to leave a comment in one of my posts?
#
JTR eh this is not going to work as my micro.blog seems to have a different sign in and it takes over
#
JTR It's ok I'll figure it out later
#
[capjamesg] turalyon Yes, you could make that work!
#
[capjamesg] IndieAuth defines how to let someone log into a website with their domain name. This can work with any kind of website.
#
turalyon I'm gonna spend the night creating my webring and doing that hehe
#
[capjamesg] JTR There may be a person or two here who can help. [manton] maybe?
#
[capjamesg] turalyon++ good luck!
#
JTR manton is here? heh :)
#
JTR can you even see a list of users? in the chat I mean.
#
[capjamesg] What is chatnames?
#
Loqi The chat names page is for IndieWeb community members to to add their commonly used nicknames on discussion channels, optionally with icons, sorted by nickname with their website and usual timezone(s) https://indieweb.org/chatnames

#
[manton] @JTR Hello! Happy to help… I sign into the IndieWeb wiki with http://Micro.blog too, so it should be possible.
#
JTR Hi @menton (not even sure how I mention you in chat).
#
JTR So ok, do I need to add anything to my theme? I was thinking layouts/partials/microhook-head.html in my case. That Rel=? my head html file
#
JTR I was trying to use my domain, www.taonaw.com. so now it tries to sign me in with *that* but it says I'm already signed in as JTR from the mirco.blog page, which is what I use there
#
JTR hope this makes sense
[manton] and cotsuka joined the channel
#
[manton] Ah, that error happens when http://Micro.blog is confused about whether the blog is associated with your current account. Does it work if you drop the “www” and just use http://taonaw.com?
gordinator and [rose] joined the channel
#
JTR ah, well that's in my github account (that's where I put the www.taonaw.com) one min
#
JTR well if I try that it says that I entered something that doesn't look like a valid URL in the indieweb side
cotsuka joined the channel
#
JTR let me be more specific. I changed it to taonaw.com on the github profile. Then on indieweb, I tried www.taonaw.com - this gives me the same issues, telling me I'm trying to sign in as www.taonaw.com on micro.blog (it opens micro.blog). If I drop the www, the indieweb site says it's not a valid URL
#
Zegnat You should be able to use https://taonaw.com/ directly to login with on indieweb.org. Micro.blog has native support for IndieAuth. So the indieweb login should go straight to your Micro.blog interface, no need to have GitHub involved.
#
JTR [Zegnat] it seems to skip that all together. I followed the guide and did github, but it seems that when I log in it goes directly to micro.blog (as it should, if I understand correctly) but the issue is that micro.blog then says I'm signed in JTR (which is my micro.blog username) and not the domain as I enter it. maybe if I put the micro.blog address before I registered the domain
#
JTR nah, I get "cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: mico.blog (see https://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html) for https://jtr@mico.blog"
