[tantek]this is a great article about the social benefits of a very lightweight sense of "presence" and something I distinctly remember from the times the same way the writer does. I wonder what this would look like today, using our websites for perhaps peer-to-peer distribution of our "presence" and "status", lighterweight than notes obviously: https://a.wholelottanothing.org/aols-instant-messenger-was-the-unsung-hero-of-the-early-aughts/

[tantek][capjamesg]++ your blog post about 75 reasons to start a website is great and I love the whiteboard photo!!! drafting/outlining a blog post on a white board is awesome
[capjamesg]Thank you! I think the whiteboard was the perfect place to start this post because I started having ideas quickly and I needed to write them down.
gRegorreading that AIM article and re: presence, someone recently set up a little bar at the bottom of each page showing stick figures of people on the site. you could move them left and right and even chat. I forget what site it was.
