[Trevor_Morris] I added two more slash pages to my website; a HTML sitemap and blank page! 🙂
#
thamara_k [Trevor_Morris]++ can't remember if I've said before, big fan of your site, it's very cool
#
thamara_k are you pulling your movies data from Letterboxd?
#
[Trevor_Morris] Letterboxd does not have a public API. I could poll the RSS feed, though. I initially started with an unofficial IMDB API wrapper, which was effectively a scrapper which turned the data into usable information. In the last 12 months or so, that has been failing, so I am get the data from TMDB. All of it is stored locally in a database. Letterboxd is powered by this data, as well.

[capjamesg] Inspired by HWC Europe this week: https://jamesg.blog/2026/07/16/website-superpowers
#
[capjamesg] Oops I meant to add that in.
#
[capjamesg] I have captured that in my post.
#
[capjamesg] [social] let me know if I got the essence right.
#
[capjamesg] Ah, it was actually about blog post tags.
#
[capjamesg] I just added that clarification too.
#
[capjamesg] I’m glad I sent this post here!
#
[capjamesg] Although it could apply to HTML too!
#
[capjamesg] My blog post needed some word healing evidently 😂
#
[schmarty] the existence of tag (and word) healing suggests the existence of tag (and word) injury >:}
#
[social] [capjamesg] that is pretty much the gist of “tag healing”. Tags that have similar meaning, but may be from similar context. The going through en either modifying the tag terms used to unify things, build umbrella terms, or connect tags to something a little more formal like categories. But, things like cycling, pedal power, biking, etc. all as tags could point to a unified umbrella, or point to a category.
#
[capjamesg] It might be worth blogging about that [social].
#
[capjamesg] I couldn’t find a good reference.
#
[capjamesg] (although admittedly my search was cursory)
#
[social] I need to search as I think I have blogged about it years ago. It was part of my regular talk, workshop, and consulting work.
#
[social] Hmm… not finding anything in searches
#
[capjamesg] “tag healing” “taxonomy” on Google doesn’t show any relevant results.
#
[social] tags and tag term uses change over time and had animations what showed the common problems and lexigraphical drift
#
[capjamesg] lexigraphical drift would be a great name for a blog, or a band.
#
[capjamesg] Like Tokyo Drift but cooler.
#
[social] A information scientist racing team, lexigraphical drift
#
[social] One of my favorite terms
#
[capjamesg] If you do have/find a reference I’ll put it in my post.
#
[social] I searched my blogs and didn’t find it. But, I did writing for publications (but I don’t know that those would still be around).
#
[capjamesg] Looks like the tag healing concept needs some healing…
#
[social] It exists in Slideshare. I think I have some of my talks at iSchool academic symposia about lexigraphical drift and tag healing, but also why user contributed tagging as large value missing in taxonomies.
#
[social] I don’t have tag healing called out directly, but this presentation around tagging and folksonomy starts setting things up on slide 9 with background -https://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/tagging-to-folksonomy/252563#9
#
[social] Slide 21 starts getting to the problem space. The Moritz Stefaner sankey graphic on slide 57 is where this talk wraps up the tag healing.
#
[social] I may need to write this up on my own site. I know I have a draft sitting somewhere on my hard drive.
#
[social] This presentation was to an academic audience of researchers at DeMontfort University in Leicester. Slide 55 starts showing some of the design patterns that were being used for tag healing - https://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/folksonomy-hated-word-but-loved-resource/117697#55 with Flickr’s clustering, tag combinations (co-occurence) in Raw Sugar and LibraryThing, algorithms, etc.

[social] I found tag healing in report for inside a client’s company and an article that included it for another large enterprise company’s internal distribution. I’m pretty sure I have it in an essay that was translated into Italian (or it may be the German one), but not available in English.
#
[social] Searching the web for “tag healing”, I may want to include that in the title when I post something. 🤦
