KartikPrabhu is there a best practice for displaying external profile pictures on your site e.g. in responses? Currently, I simply link to the direct image I get from the webmention-parsing but one of them is broken and takes too long to time out

Zegnat Storing would almost always be best-practice. That way you will not get mixed security warnings in case someone is on HTTPS and a third party can't try and take over an image shown on your site
