keithjgrant activity streams were originally feed-like, and had an Atom version
#
[kevinmarks]
as well as a JSON form
#
[kevinmarks]
the Atom version was deprecated for AS2, and they got more structure to them (and a lot of JSON-LD added)

So it serves a similar function as RSS? A feed/list of content. Just more social web activity centric, rather than just post content?
#
[keithjgrant]
I guess what I'm trying to understand are the differences between activity streams, activity pub, and websub. & How they all fit together in the big picture
#
bengo
if you're gonna represent a feed of content in JSON and not XML/RSS, it's a pretty good vocabulary to use for the JSON property names
#
bengo
But it doesn't really say anything about what you'd do with those JSON objects.

activitystreams and activitypub are essentially a totally different but analogous way of doing things compared to h-entry/h-feed, micropub, and websub

ActivityStreams were originally the answer to the question "how do I describe the verb associated with an Atom entry?" and then, like most of these things, got waaaay out of hand :)
#
[keithjgrant]
So if they're analogous, does that mean one is likely to "win" out over the other in the long run?
#
aaronpk
or end up being used for different things

Activity Streams also picked up the OpenSocial activity model from when we were trying to unify social feeds
#
[kevinmarks]
and they did end up being used by aggregators like Gnip and so on

indeed. if you want to hide small edits, you can select "this is a minor edit" over the "save page" button, then it doesn't show up here. but it really doesn't matter much, espeically not when nothing else is going on like today
