aaronpk IMO the easiest thing that would probably have the least consequence if ignored would be to prepend a "#" to an arbitrary string, so clients could check "does the URL begin with '#'? if so, don't show the URL", and if they forget to add that check, clicking that in a browser will not navigate away to some unexpected place
