Zegnat, Found out why info-uri.info pages are done. That registry was apparently closed in 2010: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Info_URI_scheme#Namespace_Registry
#
gRegorLove
I'm leaning towards the mf2 h-entry wiki page use of uid "universally unique identifier, typically canonical entry URL" and using "doi:abcd/1234"
#
gRegorLove
The h-cite uid definition is more precise "a URL/URI that uniquely/canonically identifies the cited work, canonical permalink." but I don't see a problem with using just "doi:" Open to other reasoning, though
#
gRegorLove
For display, they apparently "should" be in that format https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_object_identifier#Display
#
gRegorLove
Er, s/done/down/ in that first chat line
#
gRegorLove
Since these are sent in micropub requests, "isbn:" or "doi:" prefixes should be enough for servers to decide what to do with the uid.

Pretty sure I can actually just add it to the store too

That's cool. I wonder is macOS will ever add support for PWAs? I doubt it, but who knows.
#

Its possible that Fluid could be enhanced to be more of a PWA launcher.
#
[grantcodes]
Well it supports them on iOS now - although quite well hidden
#

Yeah, and it reloads the app nearly every time you launch it, so its sort of a wonky experience.

aaronpk: looking at one of your review posts (part of migrating my goodreads data to my site), your mf1 hReview markup looks correct, but an mf2 parser doesn't pick up the value of rating!
#

aaronpk: this *could* be an mf2 parser bug if i am reading http://microformats.org/wiki/h-review#Parser_Compatibility correctly - neither "rating" nor "best" mf1 properties are getting picked up. 🤔
#
aaronpk
IIRC I didn't include any mf2 for rating posts intentionally

looks like I need to add p-rating then
#
[schmarty]
haha, you do! it's a hybrid.
#
[schmarty]
and p-best, i think.
#
aaronpk
cause the h-review class should prevent the parser from picking up the mf1 properties
#
[schmarty]
ah ok, that was my initial thinking (mf2 class stops mf1 properties from being picked up)
#
[schmarty]
i got myself stuck on goodreads data - most of the time when i read something i also rated it, so an analogous post would be an h-review but *also* an h-entry with p-read-of
#
[schmarty]
i don't know of anything that consumes h-reviews *or* read-of posts currently, so i guess it doesn't matter.
#
[schmarty]
i'll probably create a post for each
#
[schmarty]
(one h-entry with a read-of and read-status, one h-review for the review)

If I am trying different WP themes and I see hentry and fn in the source code of a post it is safe to assume this is only set for micromats1 and not mf2?
#
gRegorLove
[jgmac1106], Yeah, those are mf1
#
gRegorLove
Unless you have a plugin that adds mf2 to the theme
#
[jgmac1106]
yes, my goal was to test the mf1, since they claim to have microformats (true but not updates) then try with mf2 plug-in, though I find having both makes thigns things go screwy sometime, and then see if [cjwillcock] and I can make a child theme and document how we went through the templates and made the changes
#
schmarty
gRegorLove: not sure if you saw the above. do you have any thoughts on bringing in goodreads data to a personal site? goodreads often combines "reading" with "rating" - I mark it read at the same time I give a star rating.
#
gRegorLove
Hm, good question
#
gRegorLove
You could do separate posts, or since there's not a special consumer for h-review you could put it inside the h-entry? Seems like you could separate them later if desired, or do some other upgrade to them.
snarfed and sebsel joined the channel
#
gRegorLove

#

schmarty, not sure if it's a good idea or not. :) I was thinking it might be easier to manage instead of 2 posts for each, but I guess in either case you'll need to duplicate some information for the h-review to have the book's information
#
gRegorLove
h-entry h-review on the same element? Haha
#
schmarty
it's tricky because their properties don't really line up
#
schmarty
currently a read-of is a nested h-cite, h-review spec can have nested h-item or h-product.
#
gRegorLove
I said that as a joke, but it might actually work! http://pin13.net/mf2/?id=20180615192757629
#
schmarty
but! h-product can have nested h-review...
#
schmarty
p-read-of h-product? ;}
#
gRegorLove
p-read-of h-cite becomes p-read-of p-item
#
gRegorLove
... h-cite
#
gRegorLove
It does give h-review consumers extra properties like read-of but... idk
#
schmarty
not bad
#
schmarty
ah but then p-item is not an h-item but an h-cite
#
schmarty
this is all theoretical until someone builds an mf2 review consumer 😂😭
#
schmarty
my trip-up is that h-cite and h-item have different properties
#
gRegorLove
p-read-of p-item h-cite h-product, but yeah then we're getting pretty crazy, haha
#
schmarty
actually h-item is so simple it's just name, url, photo. so extra properties like author don't seem so bad.
#
schmarty
so maybe a review consumer would be okay if a p-item is a nested h-cite!
#
schmarty
all of this is to say: how do you feel about adding reviews to indiebookclub.biz? 😆
#
schmarty
oh, also backfeeding into my indiebookclub profile! so ibc both produces and consumes read-of posts and reviews? ;}
#
gRegorLove
Too many requests. "I've made a huge mistake" jk
#
schmarty
goodreads migration bonus difficulty: no easy way to make syndication links from the CSV export they give you. so i'm going netflix-style and loading up my entire read history with their infinite-scroll feature to get those URLs.
#
gRegorLove
You want ibc to read from Goodreads and create posts automatically you mean?
#
schmarty
that'd be cool, but no i wouldn't expect that. however, i have a bunch of read-of posts that i made before i had an ibc "account" which should now have ibc-compatible mf2.
#
schmarty
and once i import my goodreads reads into my site, those will also be ibc-compatible.
#
schmarty
so if someone was following my ibc feed i'd want all that data to be there.
