jeremycherfas Zegnat Since I added the __DIR__ magic constant to my script, writing out to files stopped working. I am not seeing a good reason yet, but I thought I would ask whether there are some circumstances in which adding __DIR__ might be a bad idea.

Zegnat Not really, it is basically always a good idea to use absolute paths if you know them (e.g. when you know files have to write to the directory the script is in)
