I always forget how much work UI stuff is

probably the part that takes the longest imo

I'm making good progress tho. Gotta take a break for today and come back to it with fresh eyes
#

facts, UI constantly evolves and never really feels "finished"
#
[snarfed]
^ many things, in general
#
[snarfed]
great Leonardo da Vinci quote: "Art is never finished, only abandoned."
#
[snarfed]
"change is the only constant," etc
#
[snarfed]
(thxgiving evidently makes me philosophical)
#
aaronpk
Maybe it never feels finished, but it certainly feels unfinished if it’s not done right :-)

aaronpk: do you have an ETA-ish for the new indieauth.com site?
#
jacky
like when it goes full informerical?
#
jacky
or is there a list of things somewhere that people can contribute to to help it move forward? :)
#
jacky
ohhhh I misunderstood

I think I fixed my watchtower install..
#
[Rose]
But aperture is still not getting new entries
#
jacky
I've been seeing that
#
jacky
I wonder if it's full or something
#
[Rose]
Nope, it was my fault. I didn’t migrate my redis configuration when I migrated servers
#
[Rose]
I wish Aperture had a artisan command to sanity check the config
#
[Rose]
Still, when I eventually write my own replacement then I can include that
#
[Rose]
How do I know it’s now fixed? Simple, lots of posts from IndieWebCat in my feed!
#
[Rose]
It hasn’t been working for quite some time
#
jacky
something I find interesting about the SSB community is the amount of self use they have to do
#
jacky
since they've more-or-less jettisoned the rest of the Web
#
jacky
like the way we do RFCs or just discussions is solely on GitHub (a silo)
#
jacky
not saying we have to be a purist of sorts
#
jacky
but it can encourage the tooling to grow
#
jacky
however that leads to a wall in people being able to work with it if it's behind a entry wall
#
[KevinMarks]
The ssb clients I tried don't use html, but some markdown variant which is web abandonment in a different way
#
jacky
which ones did you try?
#
jacky
and I don't think most would since it's not predicated on the Web itself
#
jacky
it can be bridged _to_ it but it's not like how IndieWeb has HTML and HTTP as underpinning parts of it
#
jacky
like I can talk to someone in the same room over bluetooth lol

here's something I could do because I run my own git server, not really possible on a silo like GitHub 😄 https://twitter.com/dmitshur/status/1200872324859400192
#
@dmitshur
I had an idea to do server-side validation of git commits on my personal site, to reject files that can't be included in Go module zips. Prototyped this, and while a small feature, I'm kinda excited about it becoming a reality (on my site)! 😛 #golang https://github.com/shurcooL/home/issues/35 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EKpbAaqXkAEPV8T.jpg
