# sisoma Also, how is Discord a "Decentralized Social Project"?
# sisoma Same lol. Where did you get this database from? 😛
# [aciccarello] iris.social domain looks parked now too
# [aciccarello] so much blockchain. Is ghostchain a thing? Vaporchain?
# [aciccarello] Oof. Content warning: bitcoin shilling mixed with antisemitism.
# [tantek] I got that database / airtable from https://twitter.com/rabble/status/1590091568031338496
# [tantek] which was in reply to the founder's announcement he was launching T2 https://twitter.com/gabor/status/1589837734927290369

# [KevinMarks] that may be a reaction to the new twitter link preview pathology?
# Loqi It looks like we don't have a page for "new twitter link preview pathology" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "new twitter link preview pathology is ____", a sentence describing the term)
# [KevinMarks] twitter now only shows the image as a preview, with the website domain overlaid on it, not any of the preview text
# [KevinMarks] design << https://heather-buchel.com/blog/2023/10/why-your-web-design-sucks/ post on how organisational structure has alienated designers from the web
# Loqi ok, I added "https://heather-buchel.com/blog/2023/10/why-your-web-design-sucks/ post on how organisational structure has alienated designers from the web" to the "See Also" section of /design https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=89967&oldid=88751

# [tantek] I really want to write (or see someone write) a side by side comparison table & contrast between http://micro.blog (successful & sustainably growing) vs T2, since both essentially set out to provide a replacement for Twitter for users
# [tantek] In #indieweb-dev because I do think the details of how it was built, standards vs proprietary, open vs closed, kickstarter vs angel funded, one engineer vs hiring a big team, etc would be useful to illustrate how many bad choices T2 made in comparison, despite starting long after http://micro.blog

# [manton] [tantek] I’d like to see more analysis of that too. I wrote a blog post yesterday about it but it didn’t cover all your points. I’m still a little surprised that Pebble/T2 didn’t last a little longer. One year isn’t much time to figure things out, correct mistakes, pivot, whatever. https://www.manton.org/2023/10/24/pebble-is-shutting.html

# Loqi T2 was a social media silo that was an attempt to “build another Twitter” that was announced, launched, raised 1.1m from angels, then partially rebranded as “Pebble”, no relation to the watch, a month before it shut down, all in less than a year https://indieweb.org/T2

# Thelie Hi ludovicchabant, seems like it was too much of a -dev question ;)
# Thelie That thing about adding your h-entries in memory (if I understood it correctly) sounds pretty wild
# ludovicchabant Thelie: it's pretty simple actually -- well, for the -dev channel :) In the config file you specify CSS selectors, and what class to add to any element that matches. SiloRider just runs through those rules on the downloaded feed, and passes the result to the microformats parser
# Thelie Ooh very neat
# Thelie Is there any way to have some String prepended to the post before it goes out? Something like "Hey I posted something on my website, have a look: [Title] [link]"
# gRegor Oh cool. We have a minimal wiki page if you'd like to add yourselves as examples and add any other info: https://indieweb.org/SiloRider
# ludovicchabant Thelie: did you mean with SiloRider? There isn't right now, but I have implemented something better (IMHO). For each article in the feed, SiloRider optionally downloads the actual linked article (if any) and looks for opengraph or twitter meta tags in the html head. If found, it uses that.
# ludovicchabant So that lets me write a little blurb and specify a featured image for the article, and that text and image will go with the link in the social media posts instead of a bland title+link
# ludovicchabant gRegor: will do! Thanks
# Thelie Huh I'll have to look into that, but I think I'm done fith etiditng tags for today ^^
# Thelie At least I (think I) got h-feeds implemented now :)
