[tantek] aciccarello, as in, some context support both Markdown and emoji shortcodes, e.g. GitHub and GitLab, however, seeing feature requests like this makes me think emoji shortcodes are not actually part of Markdown: https://github.com/executablebooks/MyST-Parser/issues/565
