I've been implementing atproto/bluesky login for indielogin and I noticed that very little of the actual process involves bluesky stuff
#
imsanana
I think a very simple indieweb atproto lexicon equivalent to rel=me links on one's profile would be really awesome and would allow non-bluesky atproto users to authenticate
#
imsanana
"type": "Link",
#
imsanana
{
#
imsanana
```json
#
imsanana
Basically imagine this in the user's PDS
#
imsanana
"rel": "me",
#
imsanana
"href": "https://example.com"
#
imsanana
}
#
imsanana
```
#
imsanana
this could probably used for stuff that isn't indieweb and isn't rel=me
#
imsanana
ooo right DID documents have alsoKnownAs
#
imsanana
alsoKnownAs covers the indielogin use case but it's right, it doesn't have rel=canonical or similar
#
imsanana
and updating the DID document is hell if you have enrolled your own keys
#
doesnm
why? also i like one quote from silverpill: did:plc is a joke xD https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/nomadic-identity-for-the-fediverse/2101/43
#
doesnm
when i tried bsky i used did:web where my pds are controlled keys

so I'm looking at mf2 for u-quotation-of
#
[snarfed]
right now Bridgy Fed is emitting it as an h-cite with the quoted URL in u-uid, which I guess is maybe wrong, and http://webmention.io doesn't like, but I'm not sure exactly what to make the quoted URL instead. u-url?
#
[snarfed]
wiki implies that the link to the quoted URL doesn't necessarily need mf2 at all...?
#
[snarfed]
[aaronpk] I'm not sure if BF is wrong here, or http://wm.io, or both?
#
[tantek]
[snarfed] good catch. that nested hyperlink inside the h-cite to the source should have u-url
#
[tantek]
updated the How to

I’ve been wary about Hetzner, I heard they can be a little trigger happy to ban people with new servers.
#
capjamesg
I initially chose them because I heard they were cheaper. I have had generally good service, except my server has gone down twice near Christmas.
#
.pi.r2.
oh did they explain why?
#
[mattl]
For a significant amount of time?
#
.pi.r2.
or could it have been a panic and reboot?
#
capjamesg
They checked the host system and didn't find any issues, so asked me to check my logs.
#
capjamesg
I didn't see anything but I'm not an expert with Linux so I wasn't sure what to look for.
#
capjamesg
I think I just had to restart the server in their web app, or maybe it was already restarted and back on. I can't really remember.
#
capjamesg
I'm waiting to see if it happens again this year.
#
[mattl]
Does your server uptime look correct?
#
.pi.r2.
ident.ne has been crazy stable. srv.us too. all xmit.dev servers always up. zero troubles with a few dedicated servers at work (they took tons of load)
#
.pi.r2.
ident.me sorry
#
capjamesg
Yeah. I can't say my experience is representative. I haven't heard issues from anyone else.

capjamesg[d] thought I would mention that Creative Commons explicitly (can't remember where) mentions that their licenses cannot apply to source code. I don't know about CC0 specifically, but it is something to keep in mind. I found a good text for public domain on https://choosealicense.com/
