[Al_Abut] Just read the RSS page and whoa, that’s a ton of info that doesn’t mention feed readers or easy ways to get started
#
[Al_Abut] @rgbivvv if you’re looking for a reader on rss, you might want to try NetNewsWire. It was an old school app that the original creator took back after he retired and is back in regular development as a non-profit. It’s solid in terms of no weird limits to get you to upgrade, ads, ai, etc.
#
Loqi A feed reader (sometimes called an RSS reader) is an application (local or on the web) subscribes to feeds (often limited to Atom or RSS) and presents posts from them in an interface for reading, typically without any way to respond, in contrast to an interactive social reader https://indieweb.org/feed_reader
#
[Al_Abut] Gotcha. That’s good for info capture and overall info gardening, the connection UX and content could be better though.
#
[Al_Abut] Like I don’t see a link to the feed reader page from the rss one, not even in the See Also section.
#
[Al_Abut] Probably just an obvious oversight
#
[Al_Abut] I’ve got that “fresh eyes because I’m willing to ask inane questions” technique down ;)
#
[Al_Abut] I’ve got like 90 seconds before I have to head out the door for a group ride, lemme see how quickly I can make an edit
#
[Al_Abut] *cracks fingers*
#
Loqi ok, I added "[[feed reader]]" to the "See Also" section of /RSS https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=105487&oldid=105486
#
[Al_Abut] Oh wait, you beat me to it!!! Haha
#
[Al_Abut] I went up against the wikimaster and lost
#
[Al_Abut] Sung to the tune of “I shot the sheriff”
#
[Al_Abut] Lesson learned for next time: I’m going to just make the fix as a way to point out the error 🧠
#
[Al_Abut] And with that, I’m out! Apropos of nothing but I’ve loved the discussion on here lately. I think the Berlin buzz is spilling over into cyberspace…

carrvo Hey all, I could really use a review of implementing Protected Resource and its Metadata #17 by carrvo · Pull Request #41 · carrvo/mindie-client · GitHub https://github.com/carrvo/mindie-client/pull/41
#
carrvo aaronpk, by "all" I mostly mean you since I am pretty sure you have the most intimate knowledge of the specs and libs I am using...
#
carrvo Client ID metadata, protected resource metadata, and indieauth-client-php.
#
carrvo Oh, I hate the way my phone copies URLs these days with a title and newline.
#
carrvo Anyone bridged who might have missed the link: https://github.com/carrvo/mindie-client/pull/41

[KevinMarks] On the old sites as CDN topic, Internet Archive works well as a host for audio and video files. If you make them creative commons, you can upload to Internet Archive and hotlink to them from your own site.

[artlung] For my Weird Web October for today, I wrote “ISO HTML” https://artlung.com/wwo/30/
#
Loqi It looks like we don't have a page for "ISO HTML" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "ISO HTML is ____", a sentence describing the term)

rgbivvv has anyone else here created their own SSG?
#
rgbivvv cool! can i see the repo? :)
#
Loqi A static site generator or SSG is software that developers can use (typically requiring command line access) to setup a personal site that uses a set of text content files typically stored on a server, and transforms them into a set of static HTML files for a website https://indieweb.org/SSG
#
rgbivvv cool! lemme check that out
#
rgbivvv oh wait you were asking
#
rgbivvv it doesn't look like there is a list
#
[artlung] I asked in the Fediverse/Mastodon in September about SSGs and there were a few answers of personal SSGs. https://xoxo.zone/@artlung/115197260482593667

[tantek] Web sign-in = using your own domain to sign into some service. Today on the backend that's typically implemented with RelMeAuth and/or IndieAuth protocol support. Unless you're writing or setting up your own authentication backend, you should not have to worry about the details of RelMeAuth or IndieAuth protocol support.

Loqi ISO HTML is a version of HTML defined in ISO 15445:2000 https://indieweb.org/ISO_HTML

failxontour has anyone incorporated anubis in a static site yet and can help me out?
#
failxontour I really like the project and glanced over the docs but can't find anywhere to reach them besides opening an issue on gh which I sorted am afraid to do rn. As yk it's a amateur qs
#
failxontour I personally don't despise the use of AI itself but see it as controversial and would not want them to use my personal data as training data. And well trying to fend them off via robots.txt is not as effective as they may say
#
failxontour or claim
