btrem I could probably solve the http auth part. But as you said, address books don't have a subscribe feature. And while there's a drupal ical module, it is hopelessly limited. For example, it doesn't offer auth. I filed a request to add it, and submitted a patch, several weeks ago. No response. And missing auth is just one of it's limitations. It's just a nightmare to configure, doesn't handle VTODO, etc.
