[tantek] Perhaps I'm an optimist then? I don't think we should give up on the spec being the spec. I believe that if a good faith AP/AS2 test suite effort were developed in the new Social Web WG, that Mastodon would both contribute to it, and be open to making changes (fixes) as a result of the test suite exposing bugs (according to the spec).
