could someone tell me if the indieweb signup is invite-only?

[Kupietz]
@slashbark there is no signup. You use your website to sign in. See https://indiewebify.me/ and the specifics of setting up your website to be able to sign in with it at https://indieweb.org/How_to_set_up_web_sign-in_on_your_own_domain
#
[Kupietz]
I assume you mean sign in to the wiki, that is.
#
slashbark
[Kupietz]: yes! thanks for the pointers

Are there any best practices on having top-level pages that mention brand names? I was just thinking that /zoom shouldn’t necessarily be my canonical URL for starting a call because I might not use that service forever. Maybe action URLs should be generic as possible but ones that depend on a particular service (i.e. listing your IG archive under /instagram/*) should use the service name?
#
[Kupietz]
You can always put in a 301 redirect if you change services later.

capjamesg, yes opinions on this :) if you use a site brand then I say you're implying the same URL design as the site after the brandname/

burgeonlab I am curious to see what you make re: sharing code snippets on your site!
#
[capjamesg]
I made https://jamesg.blog/code/example a while ago but I never really developed the idea as far as I wanted.

[capjamesg]: oohh you caught that quick! I was hoping to share some of my Hugo partial and shortcode snippets (they're two types of HTML templates used in Hugo) for creating bits of my site. For example, I want to include the code for creating the charts on my https://burgeonlab.com/stats page using Apache ECharts. Or small things perhaps like how to do the Hugo conditional to add the

right u-category class link for when the tag 'indieweb' is used.
#
burgeonlab
[capjamesg]: Oh you didn't split the different items. I didn't get it on first scan it was one long code block. 😅

burgeonlab
I need to check out that marquee section. I always thought those looked cool

Anyone have any idea why https://mastodon.social/@michaelkupietz.com@michaelkupietz.com/116433696720442526 didn't turn up in #indieweb-stream? It's on Mastodon and tagged #indieweb but it never showed.

[Kupietz] I see posts from you in Mastodon, the last one is “New WordPress Plugin…“. That post doesn’t show up with a tag.
#
gRegor
I see it on https://mastodon.social/tags/indieweb, maybe a hiccup in polling the RSS for that
#
gRegor
that's also the link they have in the rel-alternate for the RSS? Are they using conneg for RSS?
#
gRegor
indeed they are. I see it in the RSS when I set `Accept: application/rss+xml`

conneg--
#
Loqi
conneg has -6 karma in this channel over the last year (-7 in all channels)
#
[Kupietz]
[social] That's strange... Are you positive?
#
gRegor
Can vary by instance, I don't think all of them visibly show the hashtag, though they're there in the data.

instance and Mastodon version, that is
#
gRegor
indieweb.social and mastodon.social both display them though, and those are the feeds for the stream channel
#
[social]
I use Ivory and it shows tags as a footer to the message.
#
gRegor
huh, odd

What I was seeing

[social]
Oddly, I search for the indieweb tag and [Kupietz] post shows up fine in the listing.
