btrem Like the "jump to content" or "skip navigation" links that became fashionable some time ago. I never liked it. If there's a user-driven need to skip navigation, and I have a <nav> element, then isn't it better for the user-agent to provide that functionality? They'll almost certain do a better job than any javascript I throw at the problem.
