glitzeor4444 I have been thinking about what to use for my website ever since I realised my WordPress got deleted by my hosting lol. There are so many possible solutions, that I was giving myself a headache.
#
glitzeor4444 I then realised I already use 11ty on my digital garden site! But it's hosted on Vercel.
#
glitzeor4444 I'm thinking there must be a way to use 11ty through the Obsidian digital garden plugin but uploaded to my hosting, not Vercel. If this is the case, then life becomes much easier!!!

glitzeor4444 My next problem was I wanted to implement webmentions. Thankfully, smarter people have already figured this out.

glitzeor4444 Feeling much more optimistic about this, especially since this setup will mean I always have a local backup of my website files haha.

WinnerWind I think i talked about how paralelization of my SSG code made it run 3x slower. Well, without paralelization it was ~400ms. with paralelization it became >2000ms. I used a different paralelization library and got it down to 40ms. i dont think i can get any further
#
WinnerWind oh wait it never wrote anything, sigh
#
WinnerWind also i named content to FileObject and the code is already 10x more stable and readable. had a bunch ofi ssues with types though
#
WinnerWind funniest mishap i had while coding this was i wrote a set_name() function in the FileObject class that shockingly never set the name of the FileObject and crashed the entire SSG and i was driving myself insane wondering why. i found that pretty funny
#
ZodiacalComet Certified classic the scrambling around to look at the cause. And cheers on getting the time down!

jorisvandijk Speaking of. Getting into the IndieWeb, looking at the wiki, it's a bit of a mess to get your head around. Is there a getting started kind of guide? I mean, what should I _do_ to my blog to make it more IndieWeb friendly? How do I post to the bot here? How do I set up commenting between sites? It's a lot. I don't have enough time in this subject and I do not know. I set up an h-card- I think that's cool.
#
thamara_k What is getting started?
#
Loqi 🌱 Get started on the indieweb by connecting with the IndieWeb community, getting a personal domain, a place for your content, and setting up your home page and other IndieWeb essentials https://indieweb.org/Getting_started
#
thamara_k Joris[d] some info here^^
#
jorisvandijk Yes, I recall reading this

#
thamara_k Speaking as someone new to this, for me personally, indiewebifying isn’t exactly a “checklist” to work through as quickly as possible, but more about making incremental, deliberate changes to my web presence
#
thamara_k You can pick and choose what to do with your site, when to do it etc, it’s not a requirement list
#
jorisvandijk I feel the same way, but the guidance is ... lacking... though that's not the right word. No one has to help me along.
#
thamara_k Just my two cents

jorisvandijk Hard name to type
#
thamara_k No problem. I also understand the impulse to check things off, my brain is also wired that way haha
#
jorisvandijk Just get it all done in one go. Yeah- that's me too

thamara_k I’ve abandoned so many projects because I imagined an end result and couldn’t get there right away. Lately I’ve learned to pace myself
#
jorisvandijk Luckily my site has been an ongoing project for the better part of two decades, I doubt I'll quit now 🙂
