miggymofongo[d] come on in here for questions about organizing an IndieWeb Camp
#
miggymofongo
ahhh ok thanks! i am applying for some money to put on something similar and was wondering how much it usually costs to put one on
#
miggymofongo
they indiewebcamps are usually 2 days? any camps that work with youth specifically?

[Joe_Crawford]
They are usually 2 days [ https://indieweb.org/IndieWebCamp_Organizing#Date ] I think [tantek] may have thoughts on adjustments for youth
#
[tantek]
miggymofongo, I would recommend starting with organizing a Homebrew Website Club first before jumping into the deepend of organizing an entire IndieWebCamp with no prior experience
#
[tantek]
I'd also recommend finding at least one, preferably 2-3 co-organizers, and hopefully 1-2 of them that have been to an IndieWebCamp before so there is firsthand experience knowledge transfer
#
[tantek]
we have tried to write down and capture what we can in the page that [Joe_Crawford] linked, however there are inevitably additional details that have yet to be written down
#
miggymofongo
wow that link is just what i needed! appreciate it. i see info here about homebrew website clubs too.
#

i saw your messages in the #indieweb chat about not needing much money to put one on. the idea was to use the money to pay for hosting and web domain costs for a group of youth participants for a year after the event. also food, which i see on the page you linked (=

is the idea that anybody can put one on and call it an indieweb event? maybe I'll apply for the money for a homebrew website club for our youth membership.
#
miggymofongo
we are international with youth in japan, latin america and the u.s. so it would be an all virtual thing i think
#
miggymofongo
we are setting up a nostr relay right now to host our social media network
#
[tantek]
for an all virtual thing, I highly recommend attending one of the regular Homebrew Website Club meetups listed on http://events.indieweb.org and getting an idea there from the organizers or what it's like to plan and run one
#
miggymofongo
thank you!! will do!
