Thanks [Jo] - yeah, I've been changing lots of stuff around - including some caching layers which I overwrote. Thanks for reading seems okay now. Should be okay now. Sorry about that!

[Jo]

not to complain but since we talked about it yesterday: don't know how to explain to people that accedsibility on a website isn't vibes based and there's actual rules about that
#
[Jo]
'i dont feel like this contrast is too low' well it is.
#
[Jo]
this is regarding work not personal sites (dont wanna call anyone out) tho ppl should definitely look into that stuff too
#
[tantek]
Agreed there are a bunch of minimum acceptability rules for accessibility that are a must follow kind of thing
#
[tantek]
At HWC yesterday I was trying to convey that there are creative opportunities to go beyond the minimum and provide an even more equivalent experience, and that may take some sense of vibes
#
[tantek]
[Jo] for explaining the rules to people I tend to cite WCAG or sometimes articles by a11y experts who provide clear explanation of various rules. Font size, foreground bg contrast, color palette etc
#
[Jo]
yeah!¡
#
[Jo]
its really a "think about this before everything else" thing too (i feel like a lot of people think accessibility is just a dev thing because they think the only thing affected are screen readers when there's so much more to it)
#
[Jo]
if you only start to think about accessibility once the design is done you're usually kinda fucked

[tantek]
what is accessibility
#
Loqi
Accessibility is key to designing web sites in an inclusive manner, lowering barriers to information, interaction, and communication, to make the web accessible to people with disabilities, and sometimes a literal site path (/accessibility) for a website accessibility statement; the IndieWeb community encourages both accessible events & personal sites https://indieweb.org/accessibility

[tantek]
^ maybe worth adding some more resources there? (like that Heydon post)
