[tantek] [Al_Abut] certainly. In SF (maybe other cities too) in the early days of Instagram we used to have monthly "IGers" meetups where we literally met up in-person to both go on photo walk AND have a coffee and chat about all those kinds of photo topics!

gRegor Aperture channels, which is what's behind stream.indieweb.org, have an "Include: only photos and videos" option, so could potentially set up a channel subscribed to feeds that only shows photos. Not sure on all the specifics of how stream.indieweb.org works pulling from those channels
