[tantek] ^ [artlung] minor suggestion, header graphic should say "https:" (instead of "http:"), or just drop the scheme/protocol///

zachary.kai Happy HWC day! Thanks so much as always to capjamesg[d] for hosting. Sorry if my constant dropping-in-and-out disturbed anybody! The internet is terrible today, so I'm glad I got to hear even only a few snippets. Enjoy the rest of the conversation!
#
capjamesg No worries! Feel free to re-join if you're WiFi improves.

[tantek] I completed 2/3 my aspirational updates to my website during HWC, and finished the third just after, updating the Etherpad accordingly before it has (yet) been archived!

[Al_Abut] [tantek] I love HWC as a minor deadline. Show and tell is a great format for getting things done.
#
[tantek] [Al_Abut] especially the "I'm going to make a commitment in front of a crowd of my peers" as motivation

[Al_Abut] [tantek] it's a practice that scales surprisingly well. I asked Paul Bucheit about how they kept the momentum from early google going once they started hiring like crazy and he said that “show and tell Fridays” worked really well for applying positive social pressure to highlight what everyone worked on for the week. You could see who shipped something meaningful vs tweaked a font on a single page.
#
[tantek]4 I wonder when show and tell Fridays stopped scaling
#
[tantek]4 and how they curated it to be about actual show and tell and not "show and tell slides" 🙃
