!tell krax That's a PHP session thing - you need to set/modify the timeout on your PHP session cookie. If you're in debian, this is problematic as there's a cron job that removes old sessions, so you need to store sessions elsewhere.

Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next

@dajbelshaw I use a private @withknown instance for my nuclear family and I tried setting one up for the McVerry diaspora Facebook group but couldn’t get traction globally. Known is wonderful plumbing for family networks. Other strategy one Belshaw… https://jgregorymcverry.com/6921-2/

↩️ @dajbelshaw  sorry to ping you on Twitter not sure of Mastodon instance. speaking of which you could do a Mastodon instance for $5 a month. Known doesn’t have  mobile app, but you and fam can use  many micropub apps with a multiuser network (http://jgregorymcverry.com/6922-2/)

↩️ You just say make account on our private social network. If on Android download “this app”, you will sign on with your domain. If on iOS, wait for contract to be up then get new phone, until then download “this app.” (http://jgregorymcverry.com/6924-2/)

but now I am thinking that won't work, you couldn't have a multiuser known site and have people use IndieAuth could you?
#
Zegnat
There is no technological reason why that wouldn’t work. The user’s URL is just going to be something like example.com/user/jgmac1106. Whether Known supports this I don’t actually know.
#
[jgmac1106]
okay I will try, I have a bunch of mutliuser sites and each person could put a rel=me in their bio
#
Zegnat
Why would the rel-me be neccessary? Did you mean indielogin.com when you said IndieAuth? But yes, RelMeAuth should definitely be possible as it doesn’t concern anything Known has implemented. Just needs to be able to show a rel-me link.
#
[jgmac1106]
you are @zegnat mixed them up, just thinking about how to get multiple people publishing to Known from Indigenous
#
Zegnat
Indigenous (like most Micropub clients) requires IndieAuth (authorization endpoint) for the user, I believe, so rel-me does nothing.

[jgmac1106]
ahh thx @zegnat, once day I will learn

[jgmac1106] your questions, concerns, and confusion are valid. Definitely worth re-asking that kind of question about technologies in #indieweb-dev because I think it raises a bunch of usability issues that are worth documenting for the whole Micropub / Microsub ecosystem
