#[mapkyca]Github checkout and composer are for those who want to track bleeding edge or who want to do development. If you just want to run a more up to date version and aren't bothered about dev, then you could use one of the unofficial packages at https://www.marcus-povey.co.uk/known/

#jgmac1106Kim let me know when you want to give a shot at updating, but basically it will involve three steps, checking your PHP version in cPanel to make sure you use <7.1, using terminal in cPanel to install composer, and then either FTPing or using composer to install latest build
#jgmac1106…ohh if you have customized your theme CSS in anyway keep a copy of the that, alwyas do a backup first (you are on Reclaim so that is done) and you do not overwrite config.ini or uploads
#jgmac1106no no need to leave, just the wrong channel #indieweb-dev or #idnieweb-chat would be better

#jgmac1106the best way to practice yoru (dialect) or do you mean a bot? Might be to join one of our meet ups remotely…..and btw there are sooo many US English dialects….don’t feel it is your repsonsbibility to learn “US English”

#[kim_landwehr]sorry [jgmac1106] I have gotten thru step 1 and have my php version set at 7.1 and have installed composer using the cPanel terminal. But I am not sure how to use composer to do the update. I know I use composer update, but do I put something after that? Sorry hope that question makes sense

#[mapkyca]If you've installed from git, just go to your install directory and type "composer install" - if you don't have composer installed you can get it from https://getcomposer.org ... but if you're fighting with cpanel it might well be easier to grab one of the unofficial .zip files from https://www.marcus-povey.co.uk/known which has all the dependencies already loaded.
