Dear Known followers; It's been a long time since we had any real developments on this project. Since both Ben and Marcus have focused on different things, which is obviously their true right, should we consider Known as an archived project and suggest current users to move gradually to other CMSes?

I had the intention to tackle the modernization of the UI frameworks, but never really got myself motivated enough to start it. So now I am really considering if it is actually worth it at all?

Personally, I think Known is so good for indieweb right out of the box that I am reluctant myself to move. I don't know enough to be able to do anything about updating it, but there might be funds to tempt someone to take it on, if possible, and maybe build a business by offering paid support and hosting.

The only thing comparable as an almost turnkey solution is micro.blog, and though a hosted account is not crazy expensive, it is not nothing.

One thing to look at might be to firm up the export flow so people can migrate it elsewhere.

Truth is, I am actually still happy functionality wise with Known as my set up, so I'm also reluctant to move. That's the beauty of how it was built. After all these years, it still serves its main purpose perfectly. Doing a comparison with micro.blog is something I am going to try. So I think I will try out micro.blog on a parallel site with a mirror of the content from my Known site and see if it can replace it.

If not, I will retry my effort on the UI of Known - cannot help much with the export function - my PHP skills are not good enough on that level

I see the problem in potentially moving from Known to Micro.blog - none of the imports seem to work.
