# 00:22 Kongaloosh hey, I was wondering if people had any ideas on how to best get complete beginners
# 00:23 Kongaloosh that is, people who probably have limited experience either with the web, or programming in general, up and going with the indieweb
tantek and gRegorLove joined the channel
# 05:57 sknebel I guess !linkify <title> would work as a baseline
# 05:59 sknebel but I'd prefer some kind of in-line hint or automatic thing, but if I start re-implementing the logic to find the article from the text just to know where to go I really should pester aaronpk instead to implement it in Loqi
# 06:05 sknebel (or I start scanning all newly created articles for patterns, that's also an option)
# 06:10 Zegnat Watch for creations by Loqi with "prompted by" in the summary?
[pfefferle] joined the channel
# 06:12 sknebel yes, that would be scanning (I guess not all, but many) newly created articles. downside is that I have to do a wiki-fetch to see the content
# 06:14 Zegnat Theoretically you could trigger on "foo is bar" followed by Loqi saying "OK" on IRC.
# 06:15 Zegnat Should we move this conversation to Dev or chat?
[colinwalker], [asteres] and sebsel joined the channel
# 09:07 sebsel !tell aaronpk seems like no 'what is' for loqi here
# 09:07 Loqi Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next
# 09:07 Zegnat I think it has all the standard Loqi stuff, but wiki stuff needs to be whitelisted per channel. E.g. Loqi is in #microformats and should not link that to indieweb.org
sebsel joined the channel
# 13:02 aaronpk Oh yeah I have an "indieweb channels" definition in the config file and I probably forgot to add the new channels there
# 13:02 Loqi aaronpk: sebsel left you a message 3 hours, 55 minutes ago: seems like no 'what is' for loqi here
# 13:05 Zegnat Probably not enabled here either. But feels like this is a bad time to be up in PDX, aaronpk :p
# 13:05 sebsel I use aaronparecki.com as my go-to clock for IndieWeb things this weekend :P
sebsel, tantek, [miklb] and [cleverdevil] joined the channel
# 14:54 Loqi In aaronpk's timezone, US/Pacific, it is currently 7:54am on June 24
# 15:02 sknebel hm, seems like mediawiki doesn't include a way to show time differences. Some way of saying "this time is in X hours Y minutes" would be cool
# 15:04 sknebel I guess that would have to be clientside though, because of caching
# 15:05 sknebel even just a big "current portland time" clock on the relevant pages could be a start

# 15:55 Zegnat When I specifically request 1080p30 it still isn’t giving me more than 640x360, oddly enough. So either it is doing some extra bandwidth checks or that is the highest the stream goes. Someone with higher throughput will have to test to confirm
# 15:56 Zegnat At 360p most stuff is still sharp though. On my current 180p text gets a little blurry, but that’s expected on my end and not a stream limitation.
[apatters], [kevinmarks] and [miklb] joined the channel
# 16:06 aaronpk strange, not really sure how to tweak that on the Vidyo end
# 16:08 sknebel Zegnat: I'm trying to figure out where I can see that
# 16:08 Zegnat Status tab on Configuration screen, then hit the “Show Conference Status” button
# 16:09 Zegnat You should see all participants in a little table. WxH is video stream you are getting
# 16:09 sknebel (only on small screen, so more would be overkill, it oculd be smart enough for that)
# 16:10 Zegnat Alright, so it is capping me at 360p because 4G then probably

# 16:26 sknebel hm, it seems like user scripts are not enabled in the wiki
[chrisaldrich] and [cleverdevil] joined the channel
# 16:45 aaronpk this is gonna be a good test of the slack bridge today
# 16:47 Zegnat aaronpk, did you just move the screenshare onto the stream? That’s good, because I wasn’t getting it before!
# 16:48 aaronpk oh i thought you said you were seeing tantek's laptop before
# 16:48 Zegnat Then Vidyo decided that the screensharing should go to me too
# 16:48 Zegnat Had to watch screenshare on the small camera on the screen in the conference room :p
# 16:49 Zegnat But suddenly vidyo decided: Hey, lets show this to Martijn too
# 16:49 Zegnat has no idea how Vidyo decides what to show him :(
# 16:53 Zegnat Oh, right, you don’t have access to that list. Not even in that big room? Exact same set-up as the small room?
# 16:53 gRegorLove Zegnat: Will you be helping take notes in #indieweb during presentations / demos?
# 16:53 Zegnat That’s interesting, because smaller sessions aren’t going to know about remotes then :/ That might be a problem if people want to talk
# 16:54 Zegnat True. But up to a max number of cameras, right? That shouldn’t be a bottleneck for now though
# 16:54 Zegnat Wonder if that ever is a bottleneck for Mozilla
# 16:54 Zegnat Yes, main room in right top corner has never disappeared
# 16:54 sknebel but vidyo apparently doesn't really let you choose what you see
# 16:55 Zegnat Vidyo will decide the amount of video feeds you get access too, and decides which ones it will show in those limited spaces.
# 16:55 Zegnat Though I would assume it preferes screenshares or something? Hopefully...
# 16:58 Zegnat sets up IRC on iPad to have dedicated typing device
# 16:59 Zegnat Testing dedicated IRC machine ... 1... 2... 3...
# 16:59 Zegnat gRegorLove log to main channel or log intros to here?
# 17:05 Zegnat aaronpk, that view is a little weird on Vidyo
# 17:06 Zegnat Showing multiple video feeds next to the podium view, squashed into the top right of my vidyo where it replaces the room view
# 17:07 sknebel before it was podium view next to large room for me
# 17:08 Zegnat Either give us the wide camera or the podium, but leave the composition of the shared screen and room view up to vidyo is probably the best bet?
# 17:08 Zegnat You were not getting the same view as I was sknebel? (see imgur album, top photo)
# 17:09 Zegnat Current view with podium makes sense to me, assuming the big black box on the side will get replaced with screenshare again :)
# 17:09 sknebel Zegnat: no, but I also have my preview turned off,
# 17:10 Zegnat turning that off just makes it a duo screen with the 2 that are otherwise next to my preview
# 17:10 Zegnat So on or off doesn’t change content on my screen
# 17:14 Zegnat I wonder how those mics are set-up. Background noise volume goes up and down in waves as if it is constantly changing its sensitivity.
# 17:15 Zegnat Oh my. I get tantek explaining tabs now but they were no longer at the computer on my stream video. I really hope this was not audio lagging behind screen because that would be several seconds lag between the two
# 17:16 Zegnat Oh wow yes, my video is not synced with audio at all
# 17:19 Zegnat Reconnected to Vidyo and now I am fine. Though on higher res again. This might get frustrating.

# 18:26 Zegnat If someone asks a question in the room, can we have the speaker repeat the question? gRegorLove aaronpk tantek
# 18:26 aaronpk yeah we'll try. we aren't really doing questions during the talk tho, people are just interrupting :)
# 18:27 Zegnat aaronpk, I understand, just see if someone wants to say that to the room so people are friendly reminded of remote participants.
# 18:27 Zegnat Don’t expect it to come up a lot, but just in case :)

# 18:37 Zegnat Do we want to try and intro people who are on call too?

# 19:48 Zegnat Cleaning up my IRC log for the intros now. Will go on the wiki soon. Can’t promise I will get to rewriting it into a nice article format before the weekend is over though.
# 20:04 tantek Zegnat, perhaps a script to clean up the timestamp zegnat parts at least?
# 20:04 Zegnat tantek, yeah, this is just a first rough go through of my IRC log file
# 20:04 Zegnat But I knew that if I didn’t put it up now I would forget
# 20:05 Zegnat I at least filtered out all the joins/quits/parts/tweets, I think
# 20:06 sknebel Zegnat: I don't know, I guess the length of the "5 minute" keynotes could be useful :P
# 20:07 Zegnat I’ll leave you to think about that. I am going to do some more intros cleanup
# 20:09 Zegnat tantek do you have a favourite emoji to symbolise chatlog? ;)
# 20:10 aaronpk we have 4 rooms this time so it won't be as useful for the afternoon
# 20:15 Zegnat tantek: just cleaned up the chatlog to just be what was said. Makes it easier to read at least. Will still need rewriting into something logical
# 20:15 Zegnat I am keeping remote attendee intros btw, even if they weren’t mentioned on stream.
# 20:17 tantek thanks zegnat. next step, == name == for each person!
# 20:18 Zegnat Yeah, that takes more time, we didn’t catch all the names in the log so needs some browsing. But I would like to get it up to my 2016/Düsseldorf standards
# 20:21 Zegnat I wish the Vidyo client remembered these links
