tantek: to move our discussion from the general channel, do you think it’s worth adding anything regarding political affiliation to the code of conduct? My question was more if that is covered by “politics” and “ideology” being already listed?
#
tantek
I'm honestly not sure
#
tantek
nor how we would word it to both protect less-privileged groups, and yet still make it clear that hate groups don't get to hide behind such a protection, e.g. no Nazis (unlike Twitter's pathetic excuses here)

summertime--
#
Loqi
summertime has -1 karma
#
ancarda
Yeah, that’s difficult to get right. Perhaps something like “any group that sees a particular set of people to be inferior”?
#
tantek
ancarda, it feels like a risky area to innovate. do you know of any other communities (particularly technical) that have a CoC with such a clause?
#
ancarda
For the record, I only wanted to provide some additional feedback as on the feedback page you said “Anticipated problem? Or Under/unreported?” in regards to discrimination due to political affiliation
#
tantek
any feedback / analysis / insight welcome for sure
#
tantek
especially on open issues like that

I can take a look tomorrow, yeah (I need to go to sleep soon)

newsletter linked wiki pages looking pretty good
#
tantek
hmm should we announce the 4th anniversary of HWC in the newsletter somehow?
#
aaronpk
like besides writing a post and syndicating to indienews?
#
tantek
was just considering that
#
tantek
I feel like I dropped the ball on at least posting a note about it
#
aaronpk
if you didn't want to write it on your own site I suppose you could syndicate a wiki page to indienews ?
#
tantek
hey are RSVPs officially open for IWC Austin?
#
tantek
like do we have an indie event page that can receive indie RSVPs?
#
tantek
that's worthy of writing a post to announce if Manton hasn't already
#

IndieWebCamp Austin

just verbed indienews lol
#

[Tantek Çelik] This past Monday was the fourth anniversary of the first Homebrew Website Club meetup https://indieweb.org/events/2013-11-20-homebrew-website-club Now regularly hosted in 8 cities worldwide (plus a 9th virtual), Homebrew Website Club meetups continu...
#
tantek
guess that'll have to wait til next week's newsletter

#

there we can talk about / celebrate it during next week's HWC meetups (first regular since the anniversary), and then that can make into the podcast etc.
#
tantek
The upcoming events list is looking a bit long and semi-undifferentiated which is making me wonder if we can do something to make the design more "interesting" - like including thumbnail feature-images for each even that has them, in a float left sorta style
#
tantek
next HWC has a featured image
#
sknebel
the repeated text for HWCs isn't all that elegant either
#
tantek
heh the one-off HWC Berlin needs some h-event love
#
tantek
try running it through pin13 mf2
#
sknebel
the next one? or which?

#
sknebel
ah, right
#
sknebel
not sure where that got lost
#
tantek
can you think of a good featured image for HWC Berlin?
#
tantek
perhaps a bright photo of the outside of the meetup venue?
#
tantek
also feel free to customize the summary/description for any one-off HWC event like that to be specific to the city (Berlin in this case)
#
sknebel
yeah, I've been thinking of redoing the page structure a bit, just haven't gotten around to it. and if I understood correctly at least the start of next year they're going to switch to wednesdays again
#
sknebel
could use our logo as featured image, I don't think I have a good picture of the venue
#
tantek
that works
#
tantek
hmm should the pagelogo template make it the featured image of the page
#
tantek
that would seem to be a reasonable semantic equivalent to apply
#
tantek
interesting it is already applying a u-logo class - ok that's good enough
#
tantek
u-logo could be a good default to show in such previews, and maybe overridden by u-featured which is likely to be larger / higher fidelity
#
Loqi
[tantek] #10 add featured image thumbnail to upcoming events to distinguish them
#
tantek
yes even just adding the image would help
#
tantek
we could use the pagelogos for New Wiki Pages in the newsletter too
#
tantek
and lastly can we detect / use emojicons or logos as sparkline sized graphics for the Changed Wiki Pages
#
tantek
typical use of the "logo" property is expecting a URL to an imag
#
tantek
what if the log property had an emoji instead? would consuming code use it?
#
tantek
*logo property
#
tantek
darn it loqi that's not even funny
