#aaronpkjgmac1106: ironically I think the term "generations" might only be an appropriate term for gen 1
#jgmac1106yeah I know in the literacy world we use tiers when thinking of vocabulary
#jgmac1106so that makes sense the word “generations” itself signiffies membership within a specific discipline
#jgmac1106Now that I think about I might even like the word tier means you can climb up
#jgmac1106actually spokes might be better, that way you can climb up but bring the unique skill set from whatever field
#jgmac1106But you don’t want top be out on Twiiter having people label themselves as “I guess Iam 2nd generartion/3rd generation” It is self defeating
#aaronpkYeah I think the ranking in that model makes people feel like they need to move up
#jgmac1106sorry getting lates, hands tired, don’t want people like Johnlabeling themselves as less than
#aaronpkalso the model is not intended to say that people should all aim to be gen1
#aaronpkI've been working on a different model to describe the situation based on other communities where end users use products built on standards but where even the product developers don't necessarily get involved with making the standards
#jgmac1106the standards are the core, we need to stop thinking as dev as a community and recoginze almost every communities now need devs
#jgmac1106or maybe draw 1 around the standards but have them overlap against the 2 and 3 which represent different communitie
#jgmac1106also helps when you can trust the cores motivations and you folks got mad street cred
#jgmac1106just trying to figure out though if level 1 comes mainly from a CS community how to graphically represent that (for some weird reason I don’t want to draw up network nodes) trying to keep the original funnel/pyramid metaphor)
