↩️ @remikilar I was just talking with @downes and describing how the #IndieWebCamp is quite unique in the land of learning. Beyond #ds106 probably longest running continuous MOOC...not that anyone calls it (or should) a MOOC. Digital ethnographer could get… http://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/10/25/remikilar-i-was-just-talking-with-downes

Interesting: the rotary club wanted to verify with me that IndieWeb.org was the right domain and told me to tell the person in charge to update the photographs. I was talking about all our events and the Nürnberg one I just returned from and they thought it weird out homepage highlights years old events.

↩️ Take a look at https://indieweb.org/Webmention#Services ; http://webmention.io, as mentioned before, works quite well when in comes to static generators.

[aaronpk] is there a script possible that would pull the image from the latest IWC and HWC and put those on the page?
#
[jgmac1106]
it does give a dated feel, never put that together
#
aaronpk
Yeah I think Kaja is already doing most of that work to update the list of events on the home page
#
aaronpk
I could make Loqi do it too if it's too much for sknebel to do
#
sknebel
Good question if we want that automated or not?
#
aaronpk
Yeah that's the thing, I'm not sure we do
#
sknebel
I would have gone by "make an effort to reguarly pick a nice recent-ish photo"
#
sknebel
having Kaja understand what a good photo is is too much effort, yes :D
#
aaronpk
maybe an alternative is to have some other section that has new information like the latest tweet about the newsletter with those photos
#
[Rose]
Maybe every event should have a field for "front page image", if it's empty the event isn't included, but if it is then that one is shown on the home page?
#
[Rose]
(Up to a reasonable number of recent events)
#
sknebel
e.g. for the camp photo I'd have gone with the last summit picture just by default
#
[Rose]
Then it's up to someone from the community to pick a good picture, and a script can just check if there is or isn't an image.
#
sknebel
but maybe it makes sense to keep it more recent than that
#
aaronpk
The latest summit photo is probably always a safe bet
#
aaronpk
right now the IWC photo there is 3 years old so I can see why that would be confusing

It looks like we don't have a page for "packing list" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "packing list is ____", a sentence describing the term)
