Eddie, my point exactly
#
[eddie]
Ohh okay haha
#
gRegorLove
Sounds interesting, [eddie]. Depending how much difference between timezones, could stretch out a one-day event, so maybe demos on the second day at a fixed time?
#
gRegorLove
It would sort of be like a series of mini-vHWCs that way, I think
#
gRegorLove
Work on creating during time when there's no sessions / after sessions
#
[eddie]
Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, have a fixed start/intro time and demos/end time that works in most all time zones and then have sessions dispersed around and you work on projects when you’re not in a session
#
gRegorLove
Quite a lot list interested in Online!
#
gRegorLove
*long list
#
[eddie]
And I’ve heard people mention interest without them putting their name on the list too

[eddie] we did a vHWc-North America and there was a lot of interest online....thinking maybe have a few how-to sessions, or what we often do Week Zero.....meaning if you want some basics in place before the event.

Yeah, we could a couple of things like try to have the vHWC Americas be more consistent before and after it, as well as try to have some tutorials or things like that posted online shortly before
#
[eddie]
Essentially providing some people the ability to start investigating stuff before if they want
#
[eddie]
Makes sense to me

I learned my lesson from last time.

I'm staying at the hotel next to the one I stayed at if I go to Austin

The prices are good. I just need a roommate to offset costs.

gRegorLove: When are you planning to arrive/leave?

Not planned yet

Probably Fri-Sun nights tho

I learned the correct hotel after last time.

↩️ none! Combining IndieWeb with some crypto / decentralized could get us there pretty quick. I tried to get Peepeth to use ActivityPub, which would immediately make it interoperable with Mastodon.

petermolnar I can understand that, and I definitely don’t think IWC Online is a good replacement for an in-person one. I also don’t think the IWC in person experience translates well to sitting in a single video conference all day where it’s hard to speak to people without talking over them
#
Loqi
[eddie]: [jgmac1106] left you a message 3 hours, 39 minutes ago: we should move this to 2019/Online/Planning
#
[eddie]
However, I do think if you break the in-person ideals of IWC, you can break it down into the components and re-think how those components can work online and hopefully that can help support and foster a similar feel when used correctly in an online medium
#
[jgmac1106]
[eddie] doesn't mean online can't have a physical presence...could try to encourage local nodes of HWC to gather in person
#
[eddie]
Definitely, that’s a great idea!
#
[eddie]
And good idea, jgmac1106 on the planning page. I’ll put that up today so we can start gathering thoughts there
#
[eddie]
I also thinking being able to have separate breakout “rooms” throughout the majority of IWC Online is the way to go, with only the welcome/intros and demos taking place in a single sharing service/room.

It looks like we don't have a page for "testimonial" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "testimonial is ____", a sentence describing the term)

testimonial is a statement of support for the IndieWeb, perhaps building blocks, tools, services, and/or especially the IndieWeb community.
