↩️ Of course, I find him to be a delight. However, @Grueproof and I have similar impatience with #indieweb. It’s not easy to adopt (so far) unless you are a programmer as @paulrobertlloyd mentioned in his 2018 in review article: https://paulrobertlloyd.com/2019/01/2018_in_review

↩️ Ohhhh gotcha. That’s understandable, those projects having limited time and resources have focused more on functionality than design and marketing. But I also understand the IndieWeb in general has more developer time than design time as well (https://eddiehinkle.com/2019/01/11/1/reply/)

!tell gregorlove WDYT of adding an event_photo field to https://indieweb.org/Template:one-day-event so we can easily add a photo URL (maybe show thumbnail?) to the h-event that it generates to more easily get a photo from an event to show-up in the newsletter (rather than always having to create a separate one-off page after the fact for an indieweb-related event that happened to have a photo)
#
Loqi
Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next
#

edited /Events (+106) "/* Upcoming */ try sneaking a u-photo link into the description of a one-day-event"

#
[tantek]
well that seems to work to get it into the parsed mf2 JSON of /events
#
[tantek]
now to see what the newsletter does (if it even checks for) a photo on an event in the /events page
#
[tantek]
cc: [aaronpk]
#
aaronpk
hmm i dont think it does, since there wasn't any markup like that in the past
#
[tantek]
I thought maybe the code was "lazy" and used a photo wherever it happened to find the event
#
[tantek]
just like the newsletter will take the rest of the event (name, when, location) from either location - figured the "get a property for an event" code was all in the same place, and thus didn't care where the h-event came from (whether from /events or from its own wiki page)
#
aaronpk
you clearly ascribe far too much confidence in my coding ability here
#
aaronpk
ok let's see if that works
#
[tantek]
!tell jacky now's the time to create your own event page for WaffleJS from this week and include the photo of you speaking - only have a couple of hours before the newsletter goes out!
#
Loqi
Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next
#
aaronpk
i'm doing it the opposite way. if it doesn't find any photos on the event page, then it uses a photo from the /events page
#
aaronpk
because i want it to use *all* photos from the detail page, but only one from the /events page if there is one
#
[tantek]
makes sense aaronpk!

so I'm having trouble with FOSDEM and "The First Annual International Copyleft Conference" and "global diversity CFP day" being listed on /events with nothing obviously indieweb-related on any of their event home pages - nor any evidence that anyone from the community is participating and/or giving an indieweb-related talk

I suppose I can probabilistically assume that *someone* in the indieweb community (perhaps at least sl007) is participating in FOSDEM but the others I have no idea
