LoqiGWG: [schmarty]1 left you a message 2 days, 16 hours ago: just heard back from Glitch! they are not up for hosting an IWC this time around. they're hiring a new person that maybe able to help with hosting HWCs, though! so, looks like Pace is the place.
jgmac1106but beyond me sending out a Save the Date tweet is not locked…I will not be able to help 20-21st, though I will be in the city…just got tickets to the Yankees for my sons 11th birthday
jgmac1106it will be better for tantek too rather than trying to come right from TPAC and Japan, and off chance aaronpk IWC itch scratvches mroe than be at home for two whole days itch
[tonz][Rose] yes, Amsterdam as of this morning has a venue, It already had a date. 28 & 29 th September, at CODAM Coding Academy in Amsterdam (near central station)
[schmarty]jgmac1106: i believe there have been updates to the process for setting up ti.to recently since the summit. please give them a look before diving in. :}
[tantek]would kinda prefer venue / co-organizers that are already at least semi-involved in the community (show up either in chat or have participated in events and shown energy to actually make things happen)
[tantek][jgmac1106] have you had any luck getting the thinqstudio folks to show interest in a HWC or at least showing up in chat to setup their own sites here?
[tantek][jgmac1106] got it - you put yourself down as a co-organizer for Denver in /Planning#Denver so from that I assumed you were into actively planning it and didn't want to step on your toes
ZegnatHonestly, we did a call aout Tito and what sort of parts we would need in a homerolled system, and there were so many things we came up with that all my notes for setting up tito spiralled out of control real fast
[tantek]except we are using Tito, over and over, so clearly people are following *some* process — can we at least get that written down to reduce "obvious" mistakes?
aaronpkas a kind of test to see whether we are severely under-utilizing ti.to, and to see if there might be something better, needing to know exactly what features we actually need
[tantek]aaronpk, how is the weekend of 11/2-3 for you? scary to say that might be the first weekend I can now make for Denver (except 9/21-22 as previously discussed for NYC)
ZegnatExcept almost every event we looked at during the call used Tito in a different way, [tantek]. So almost every event has had a unique process. Some used venues to limit ticket availability others didn’t need that, others had the optional “donate to IndieWeb” tickets, others did not, etc. And as soon as you wanted 1 specific thing, you’d have to do a wholy separate process :(
www.zylstra.org blogcreated /Amsterdam (+199) "Created page with "Amsterdam is a city in the Netherlands. A first IndieWebCamp will take place there in September 2019: [[2019/Amsterdam]], which will be the second IndieWebCamp in the Netherla..."" (view diff)
[tantek]we decided on one "normal" ticket for everyone, $5-10 based on what the organizers want to charge (TBH I'd be ok leaning towards 10 if that means we can keep making t-shirts happen)
ZegnatI don’t remember what we ended up looking at for the financial assistance, do you remember whether we ended up thinking coupon codes or secret tickets were best, aaronpk?
[tantek]actually that latter one is for everyone <!here> interested in an IWC SF this year — please add yourself to the possible dates: https://indieweb.org/Planning#Denver with your preference!
ZegnatWonder if there might be value in scheduling a call and with a bunch of us together go through the process of creating the true boilerplate tito event
