@HoldenShearer
Here's an idea to carry into 2020: You cannot create or curate a community where everyone is welcome. It's an incoherent, fake goal. It sounds nice but it is categorically impossible. Some people, by their very presence, make a space unsafe and unwelcoming to others.

i'm implementing a shortcut for response moderation for the immediate need of today's newsletter
#
aaronpk
responses will need manual approval eventually, but in the mean time, if a webmention is received from the website of someone who has logged in already, then it will be auto-approved
#
aaronpk
it's kind of an implicit allow-list

I want to cluster the HWCs by day to collapse it a little
#
[schmarty]
i think that's how they appeared previously, right? one entry per HWC day, with cities listed underneath?
#
aaronpk
yea cause before there was one page per HWC day

which is only good for this exact use case

↩️ What about a backfeed? It's not perfect (Facebook, for example, has closed off their APIs so this isn't possible), but it's an option for a few (including Twitter and Instagram): https://indieweb.org/backfeed

↩️ I have always felt that IndieWeb is more a culture of mutual aid than shipping tools. We do release tools, but the focus seems to be more on teaching one to fish than giving a complete out of the box replacement for social media.

↩️ Or, I suppose I could also put it like this: IndieWeb is a philosophy. Fediverse is a solution. I think of the two as both complementary and categorically different.
