โœ๏ธClientside Webmentions: Joining the IndieWeb with @Sveltejs https://www.swyx.io/writing/clientside-webmentions Finally got around to an initial implementation of @aaronpk's wonderful http://Webmentions.io service. I found @mxstbr's clientside implementation a great balance of build risk and UX!

wait a sec, i don't know how Loqi did that anyway... it looks like all the spam detection hooks are disabled right now
#
sknebel
Didn't restart loqi after changing the hooks?
#
sknebel
(depending how you disable them)
#
sknebel
Or maybe the machines just know better now....
#
aaronpk
ahh there's a leftover spam hook
#

I was sure I had it wrong, but will now look to see what I did

oh this might also be confused by how slack handles usernames now
#
aaronpk
on the IRC side we see your slack username, not your "display name" or whatever they call it

Ok, the rabbit hole has led me to Fediverse, which I'd known about, but didn't realize it was seemingly so distinct from IndieWeb. What is the overlap? Are there fundamental incompatibilities? Practical problems like do Fediverse apps tend to implement IndieWeb protocols?

[schmarty]
[Aaron_Klemm] "Fediverse" as a catch-all term is often used to describe sites that implement (some version of) ActivityPub, usually specifically in ways that interoperate with Mastodon.
#
[schmarty]
a major philosophical difference is that "Fediverse" sites still have some third-party that runs the service where your account lives - they own the domain. that said, some implementations like Mastodon support some IndieWeb building blocks.
#
[schmarty]
beyond that this sounds like a conversation for #indieweb-dev ๐Ÿ˜„
