↩️ Agreed. I learn better looking at how others do things than following tutorials, and while my #indieweb stuff might not be high quality code I did hope it would give others ideas for ways they could implement their own plans. It’s just a shame when people steal wholesale

Bump 3 - I now use the indieweb reader https://monocle.p3k.io/ for my news feeds because I was having problems with http://allogethernow.io for some strange reason

I thought a really solid #indieweb I mean it's a first world problem, but wouldn't have shadow dropped 6 games at once today

@TrevorFSmith
↩️ I agree with that description of what happened. That said, I think the core problem today is that RSS/Atom alone is no longer enough for us. We want to read, like, and comment without bouncing from site to site. The indieweb community uses webmentions and webactions for this.

Going to be a lot of people playing in WP but a few of us are going to start a PHP course together, then some hangout chat time, then demo time
#

I will be on the road, sorry

@artlung
↩️ Haha. Maybe with MapQuest links? I know I made /cv go to my resume page. I read "Web Pages Must Live Forever” and internalized it, despite the fact few care about such things anymore, save maybe the #indieweb community.

jacky, in general I want to create pages for any named user feature on anything resembling social media / something we might want to make / do on our own personal sites
#
[tantek]
part of this is for easier discoverability via search (SEO yeah! e.g. note the first result with expanded infobox here: https://www.google.com/search?q=snitchtagging )
#
[tantek]
Now That's What I Call Good Semantic SEO™
#
[tantek]
and part of it is for teaching Loqi to answer about specific things in case people ask about them (which only works for standalone pages, not redirects to sections of pages which rarely (if ever?) have their own section-specific dfn)
#
[tantek]
pretty good that indieweb wiki beats mashable even with the same word in the title in that one example
#
[tantek]
and you can bet they spend $$$$ on SEO in comparison to us

#
jacky
so my thing is that it seems like the wiki serves as a database for Loqi in that regard
#
jacky
I'm thinking on it more
#
jacky
but if the pages that Loqi uses for short phrases were like consolidated in a visible 'quip'-y region, a bit separated from the full content pages, then it'd be a bit cleaner
#
jacky
I think my thinking on it is still early tho
#
jacky
I need to find an example of this but this kind of stuff is a bit unique too
#
jacky
(for me)
#
gRegorLove
I did that subsection-redirect thing recently
#
gRegorLove
what is open badges
#
Loqi
A badge (AKA achievement) is a visual indicator, with a post containing relevant metadata, of completing some sort of accomplishment, usually associated with completing specific tasks within a system that is frequently recognized as "achievement unlocked", or "you unlocked the xyz badge!" https://indieweb.org/Open_Badges
#
gRegorLove
Since Loqi doesn't do subsection dfns, separate pages do work better for that
#
[tantek]
I suppose for things that are still current though
#
[tantek]
For historical things, subsections are probably ok
#
[tantek]
Especially when you want to steer people towards the latest thinking in the general area of a specific thing. So your "open badges" example is a good one there.
