[tantek]: I tried to load that archive link, saw a bunch of requests happen, and closed the still-blank page after ten seconds or so

yeah I blame all the excess JS dependencies just to show a darn note
#
[tantek]
a lot of them are likely timing out

Maybe a different approach is called for, since the point is to archive the note itself, not the details of how Twitter was implemented on the date in question

A search box like that ^^ could be an interesting thing to add to the indieweb chat page in addition to the chat-specific search... or even to the wiki chrome?

[chrisaldrich] a search box "like that"maybe, if a decent one existed. The Google Custom Search one is, how do I say this technically? Shit for coverage.

@petermolnar
@tommorris kudos for https://tommorris.org/posts/2018/quietism/ I was looking for a content through the indieweb wiki, which lead to a 404 on your site, so I started digging, and I agree with your conclusions from above; I reached a similar position a while ago.

@fluffy
↩️ Yeah, pretty much. Rather than relying on fixed discovery paths, have like <link rel="profile" href="blah"> in the page headers. This is the approach taken by IndieWeb protocols and it makes for a much better experience for a bunch of reasons. Two big ones:

@philipbrewer
I’ve updated my website to a new theme, SemPress, which supports some IndieWeb functionality which I’m looking to use going forward. Things look pretty similar to me. If you notice anything wonky about my website, to let me know.The post 2020-08-25 ... https://www.philipbrewer.net/2020/08/25/2020-08-25-1705/
