what is flag?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "flag" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "flag is ____", a sentence describing the term)

I wonder if there's a better way for people to 'test' Webmentions outside of shooting it into the wild like that, lol
#
jacky
I mean, if it works, you'll definitely see it
#
gRegorLove
what is webmention.rocks?
#
Loqi
Webmention.rocks is a validator to help you test your Webmention implementation https://indieweb.org/Webmention.rocks
#
jacky
yeah but people either never seem to see that or the tools they use don't lead them there
#
gRegorLove
Receiver tests are in progress and at the bottom of the page too, so could be easy to miss
#
gRegorLove
maybe services like micro.blog could link to https://webmention.rocks/receive/1 from an FAQ or something

Loqi
[Webmention Rocks!] Receiver Test #1
#
jacky
yeah, I think that's the most ideal route right now
#
jacky
like I _do_ want to kinda monitor how people come across it and see where we can patch these leaky parts

Perhaps better would be for people writing articles to include webmention.rocks into them as an explicit testing method. It's probably worth putting up with the noise to see people giving free advertising and mental space to supporting them. 🙂

a bit late to this, but actually saw someone I vaguely know struggling with webmention tests the other day. I literally went to webmention.rocks and didn't understand that any of the tests would have helped them test receiving. I had to go through that page twice just now. I guess it's just not language I'm used to, but perhaps it could be made clearer?
#
[Murray]
Relatedly, I'm pretty sure I used checkmention when I was testing my own incoming mentions, and that's what I've pointed people towards in the past, but it seemed offline the other day 😞
#
aaronpk
i've been wanting to redo the site to make it clearer
#
aaronpk
its original purpose is different from what it's most used for now
#
[Murray]
that's fair, and now I know for certain it _is_ there I'll point people at it in the future 🙂
