hm this is interesting from the linked article https://www.indiehackers.com/post/john-onolan-of-ghost-3-3m-year-talks-creators-decentralization-no-code-b8c30b9977 “Distribution is our next big thing to solve, and we've been thinking for a long time about how to leverage open standards like ActivityPub and potentially create a decentralized network of every Ghost instances that ends up being something that could look like Medium and wor

time to approach Ghost about the indieweb model fro this, which seems like a better fit IMO

I not sure about ghost, given their front page motto in 60pt letters is "Turn your audience into a business."

@kevinmarks
↩️ I like the idea of connecting the different Ghost instances into a network. Have you looked at the Social reader work going on in #indieweb with microsub, micropub and webmention? That could be a good fit. https://indieweb.org/social_reader

Ghost is attractive out of the box but very focused on monetizable publications

Well, you gds at the same about wordpress if you look at WordPress.com - still makes sense to add support for indieweb protocols there

Nah don’t get me wrong - it’s good for indieweb standards are supported by a project like Ghost, of course (though that comment weirdly makes it sound like he’s talking about only between Ghost instances)
#
[KevinMarks]
well, if he adopted ActivityPub that is likely what would happen

aaronpk, wdyt of moving the search box to the top right(ish) of the chat archives UI. I realized I keep looking / moving my mouse to the top, sometimes towards the right out of habit of so many common web UIs that put the search box at the top / right.
#
[tantek]
Alternatively, Slack puts the search box just above the primary "content" area, centered horizontally inside it with a bit of padding and a (?) icon to the right of the search input

that reminds me of when people didn't see the technorati search box until we put a banner above it - they assumed the top inch was an ad
#
[tantek]
[KevinMarks] ironically I think it was because it took up too much space (vertically) that made people misrecognize it as a banner. If it had been shorter, that might have solved it
#
[tantek]
short like the height of a browser address bar

i'm open to changes as long as I don't have to figure out the css for it :)
