I think I figured out a way to start unburying some of the "digital garden" content from the "commonplace book" page
#
[tantek]
what is garden and stream
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "garden and stream" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "garden and stream is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
[tantek]
garden and stream is a metaphor for different kinds and aspects of websites, contrasting growing & linking content slowly & incrementally by topic, versus posting & presenting time-based content chronologically, both discussed in blog posts and IndieWebCamp sessions.

ok, I added "Perhaps the establishing article: 2015-10-17 [https://hapgood.us/2015/10/17/the-garden-and-the-stream-a-technopastoral/ The Garden and the Stream: A Technopastoral]" to a brand new "See Also" section of /garden_and_stream https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=79410&oldid=79409

ok that's a start. I think that might be enough of a seed (so to speak 🙂 ) to start extracting some of the content from /commonplace_book that's specific to that metaphor of contrasts
#
[tantek]
next step after or in parallel with that extraction would be to create a "digital garden" page with a definition that distinguishes it from or as a specific intentional subset of "commonplace book"
#
[tantek]
though I'd like to chat with [chrisaldrich] about that before doing so as I know we have a diversity of opinions that will help inform a more well-intentioned branching of those subjects

Did you know that cache partitioning in modern browsers means loading shared assets (fonts, js libs) from a 3rd party CDN (e.g. Google) no longer offers significant performance gains while it compromises the privacy of your users? #privacy #selfhosting #indieweb (…

What is a CDN?
#
Loqi
A content delivery network (CDN) is a network of distributed servers that deliver content based on the requesting clients geographical location https://indieweb.org/CDN
#
capjamesg[d]
Maybe there? ^

I didn't know that.

↩️ There have always been options that were better for users, capital just didn’t care because they were harder to build renter relationships with. See Semantic Web/Linked Data, anything from the Indieweb community, etc

↩️ Well mine is hosted by someone (ain’t got the skills for that) and runs on Wordpress, but I have done some of my own bits and it is largely Indieweb compliant. Best I can manage…
